1884 reviewsWe were visiting family who own a unit in this resort. We were lucky enough to be put up in the hotel portion of this resort. Villagio Santa Monica is the destination for the "real" Italians. We were the only Americans on site, but we felt as if we belonged. The property includes the magnificent Ionian coast. The view will not disappoint. Water sports are available - kayaking, pedal boats and sailing. There are 2 pools with ample sunning space. Poolside bar is the site of afternoon entertainment. "Aquagym" water exercise classes were fun AM and PM. The former in the sea, the latter in the pool. Entertainment is reminiscent of club resorts, but on a less demanding scale. The activities are available if you want them, but nobody pushes you. Staff is friendly and goes out of their way to please you. Dining at the Villagio Santa Monica is casual, but the food is top notch. The fare is typical Calabrese buffet. This writer maintains a gluten free diet. The Maitre D was very thoughtful, having the chef prepare special meals for me. He even prepared lunch for the family for our travel day when we left for home. Rooms are clean, and the entertainment is fun. All in all, this was a relaxing and wonderful place to host our family reunion. We will return to the Villagio Santa Monica.
