What a beautiful find!! This place wowed from the word go. The most welcome I’ve ever felt. The owner Peter and his lovely staff member Sasha ( I think) were amazing. We chatted to them both on arrival for a while and what lovely warm people they are. Our room was lovely with a large bathroom. Such a beautiful old building, comfortable and a lovely ambiance. The restaurant is very cosy and comfortable and the food was a divine! We had a sirloin steak that had been cooked over hot coals and it was rare and tender. Breakfast was amazing too! Everything is fresh and home made. The grounds are stunning and we had a wine sitting in the walnut grove. What a lovely stay we had, thank you so much. We will def be back👍❤️

Despite the huge challenges with staff isolating and supplier issues, the service was superb. We all enjoyed a fabulous roast ( jagyu beef was excellent) with great trimmings and the kids were very happy with there choices. Lovely wine. Couldn’t ask for more really. Would recommend to anyone if you want a quality Sunday lunch.

We had a magical evening at the Walnut Grove restaurant on Friday 16th April as our first meal out after lockdown. We arrived to absolutely beautiful grounds complete with roaring fire pit and festooned in lights leading us to a sweet marquee. The marquee, beautifully decorated and complete with a patio heater was furnished with huge, locally made tables meaning that social distancing even within our own party was maintained with ease. 
Both the service and the food were brilliant. I had the burger which was both a generous portion and delicious, topped with roasted cherry tomatoes and peppers with home made chips and freshly a baked bun. The pudding of chocolate brownie was also delicious. Other members of our party had the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp, Steak, Linguini and a variety of starters and all agreed that their meals were delicious. 
We will definitely be returning to the Walnut Grove Restaurant- it's so nice to have somewhere to eat with good food and beautiful surroundings in this part of Norfolk.

Fantastic meal , fantastic service , such a lovely place to come to , all staff were very helpful and the chef did an amazing meal , will definitely be comming back . Great place to bring the family and unwind

We had a fantastic evening at Red Lodge in Walnut Grove restaurant. The food was delicious and they were so accommodating. 

The atmosphere was perfect and the warm fire was lovely to sit around for a cosy drink pre supper and post!

We had a family meal here on the 164/21.  We were the first guests after the lockdown. The setting, and decor (by Juliet) was lovely.   The hosts were great, and the menu was wonderful, I was tempted by almost everything on it.  I had game terrine, rib eye steak and creme brullee.  It was all delicious, presented nicely, and generous portions. My daughters had the soup and the trout, which they enjoyed. My wife had local venison which was also delicious. A great meal, and a lovely family occasion.  

Had a weekend away to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday recently, and as both big fans of the countryside, Red Lodge was perfect, especially as we could take our little dog.
We booked the exclusive stay, which was an incredible experience, especially during the current times of trying to keep distance from people.
Pete and his wife, Maria, are lovely hosts, consistently doing whatever they can to cater to you. Pete is the in house chef, and cooks the most delicious food, using clearly high quality ingredients.
The package included bubbly and canapés on arrival, followed by a lovely lunch in the sun, dinner with a fine wine, followed by breakfast in the morning.
Our room was the huge suite, with an incredibly comfy bed, spacious living area and a stocked mini bar!
We loved the selection of local ales and wines in the bar, and was great to have an unwinding chat with Pete at the end of the day. 

I would say that if you are staying at Red Lodge, it is best to soak up the experience of peace and quiet, as it isn't a place to go where you are in the middle of everything. The local town is not far away, but for us, it was perfect to just escape our busy lives and unwind at Red Lodge.

Will DEFINITELY be back. If not just for Red Lodge itself, but for how much you feel like you are visiting good friends in Pete and Maria.

Red Lodge country house is tucked away in a beautiful rural location, it is easy to find and signposted as you get close. The house itself is a lovely Georgian property which the team Work hard to preserve its character.
The welcome was friendly and genuine and we felt relaxed within minutes. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious with loads of period features, the views from the room and throughout the house were very pretty and the sense of peace and tranquility is obvious.
Peter, who manages and runs the house is welcoming and very helpful, you almost feel like a visiting friend rather than a guest.
The food is simply superb, amongst the best we have eaten, the evening meals were delicious and perfectly cooked, the wine list is excellent.
breakfast was just as good as dinner, a lovely selection all very tempting and nothing disappointed.
This hotel also welcomes well behaved dogs.
What also makes this place extra special is that everything on the menu or drunk is locally sourced including the well stocked bar.
We will definitely be staying again and look forwards to it already.

Do not miss an opportunity to spend the night and eat at Red Lodge. The owner is a passionate chef and great host. His staff are superb and will happily help with any requests. The property and old country house are beautiful, expect a charming country estate complete with creaky floorboards and wonderfully warm fires. The rooms are all beautifully done and the beds are so comfortable! We stayed for weeks and were so lucky we found it. Great value for money, Peter has priced very high quality very reasonably.

Whether you spend the night or not you must book in for dinner. Peter prides himself on everything being made in house and the end result is delicious and unlike anything else in the area. From home made ketchup to heavenly made breads and locally sourced gins and ciders explore Peter's curated and changing menu! Trust in his choices and be adventurous you won't be disappointed. Breakfast is amazing we ate our way through the whole menu, skip a traditional English and try his other egg dishes with eggs fresh from the hens on site!

A must stay and must eat!

We booked two nights in the Mulberry Suite. Sat Nav did not like the Post Code but we did get there. An old country house next to a farm with parking for a few cars, do not park under the conker tree. Peter and dogs welcomed us warmly and we went upstairs to the Suite which was huge. Large lounge, large bedroom with a very comfortable 4 poster bed along with double aspect views, do not forget clothes hangers plus a large bathroom which had a stand alone shower and bath. We had dinner the first night, lamb shanks which were excellent. Bottled beer, an array of Gins and some good wine could be had from the bar. However once the kitchen closed then that was it really. Breakfast was very good and set you up for the day.Surprised that the room was not made up after returning from a day out and the milk sachets had not been replaced. There was no problem with having extra milk upon request.Do not take my surprise as a negative because Peter was extremely helpful in pointing out good restaurants and places of interest however be warned if you want to book a taxi, very difficult to get one, we were unsuccessful. All in all we had a very enjoyable stay at Peters Red Lodge country house.

A country house

This is a stunning old house in a beautiful setting.  When we arrived were warmly met and welcomed by Peter (and his black labradors).  Feeling hungry, Peter & his team rapidly set about providing a stunning and delicious charcuterie board and drinks for us to enjoy in the afternoon sunshine.  Our room was amazing - we were lucky enough to book the Mulberry room, with it's sitting room, four poster bed, fabulous and unspoilt views from two aspects and huge bathroom.  We ate dinner in the dining room, which unfortunately was pretty average at best - there was nothing fundamentally wrong with it but the fondant chips were definitely the best bit!  Breakfast, however, was amazing!  Lots of special dishes on the menu and a full english to knock your socks off!  A lovely weekend getaway, with only two minor complaints - 1) evening dinner wasn't all we'd hoped for, 2) the bar closed when the kitchen closed so not a lot of time for after-dinner drinks!
