2667 reviewsWe visited Playa Mar hotel in July 2025 as a family of 4 with a 4 year old and 2 year old and had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend to any families considering this hotel. I would personally say it is geared more towards families - especially in the school holidays so would probably avoid as an adult couple (in the holidays). I could probably find a few 'nitpicking' points but to be honest we all just had a lovely holiday and think it's deserving of a 5* rating. I can see why there's such great reviews. Summary: + Great food, lots of fresh options & variation by day + The staff were all lovely and friendly. + Plenty of sunbeds - As you'd expect, very geared to families so would avoid as an adult couple in the holidays. Accommodation: We stayed in a suite on the 1st floor and found it perfect for us. The accommodation is broken up into 4 blocks over 3 floors. We stayed in room 2209 which was on the corner and had beautiful views over the mountains. We didn't hear any noise in the evenings. There's a lift to get luggage/prams up to the rooms (little people who like pressing the buttons haha!). The boys had a large double bed in the main living room and there was a bedroom with 2 singles pushed together. The bathroom was 'open' so the shower had a door and the toilet had a frosted glass door. There were voile curtains & blackout curtains to both rooms. In general it was clean and tidy with modern furnishings. Pool The pools were fantastic for us - all situated close together and none were too deep (think the max was 1.5m). The splash park was max 0.4m deep - only slight negative was that on the cloudy days, it was cold in the morning but did warm up. The crab slides were great fun for out 4 year old - the depth in there was 1.1m so he did need arm bands for the slides. There is a pool bar open from 11am in the morning which serves coffee/snacks/drinks and also an ice cream freezer regularly stocked with cornetto's/chocolate ice creams/lollies. They also had whippy soft serve at the pool bar. Didn't have any issues with sunbeds - we would put a towel down when we headed to breakfast to get the spot we wanted but there were usually free beds throughout the day if you're not too bothered where you were (none were far from the pools). You could have burger/hot dog/salad lunch by the pool too if you didn't want to go to the main restaurant. Food The food was great - I was nervous of just having the buffet but it was great. The menu varied each day and each meal but there was also some consistent choices which was great for the kids e.g. there was a fresh pasta station which the kids loved at lunch & dinner. Always plenty of fresh bread, ice cream, fresh omelettes & smoothies at breakfast. Location The location was about 20 min walk to the main resort. If you have young children and want to be out every night then you may want to pick something a bit closer, however we only ventured out 1 evening so it was great for us. A very beautiful walk too along the coast. Entertainment There was a mini disco every night which our youngest kids loved and the adult/kids activities throughout the day varied by week &day. There's a small kids play park which the boys loved after dinner/before the disco with an area for younger kids and 1 for older kids. Recommendation: - A portable bed guard for young children was useful for us to bring. - Bring bug spray, I found in the evening by the park I did get bitten. - Would recommend doing a trip or 2 - We did the Dinoland & Caves tour and the Soller Express Half Day which were both great.
