North Bend State Park Lodge

Our agency had our managers conference at the Northbend Lodge. Please note that this place is meant for smaller groups. I believe the lodge only has 29 rooms. We were very happy with the renovations. The rooms are very spacious, the conference rooms are large with beautiful views and the entire lodge is extremely clean and comfortable. The food in the dining room is excellent and well priced. Highly recommend.

Nice clean room and an onsite restaurant that is open from early morning to 8:00 pm make your stay and schedule something you don’t need to be concerned about. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The Park is fabulous. 
The costs are very reasonable and they offer a veterans discount. They also have cabins but you must reserve them FAR in advance and I’m talking up to 2 years in advance during hunting season.
All in all a great place to stay if visiting Ritchie County WV!

We enjoyed our time here at the North Bend State Park Lodge! It's rustic looking with lots of wood finishes. The room was clean and the AC helped us survive the 80 plus degree weather. It has TV and wifi but we focused more on the beautiful park. Lots of opportunities for walks, swims, fun! Will come here again!

I was not sure what to expect when I booked a stay at North Bend State Park. The lodge exceeded the expectations I had. The rooms are large and comfortable with a good view of the wooded area behind the lodge. Rooms are clean and are equipped with a dorm refrigerator and a television.  The bathrooms are clean with relatively new fixtures, hair dryers, and the requisite toiletries. The lodge also features a restaurant and a large and comfortable lounge.

Unfortunately they did not tell us during booking process that the pool was broken and closed.  Such things need to be disclosed as swimming in pool was something we were looking forward to including in our stay.  Food in dining room good.  Room clean, rustic ambiance.

Lobby had a fireplace and places for sitting on couches or at small tables.
Gift shop right next to lobby.
Nice large dining room with windows on three sides.  Good food and good service.
The hallway to the rooms is very cold in the winter.
Our room was large.  The king bed with 5 pillows was very comfortable.  The bathroom was nice but small.  It was nice to have a love seat and a desk and 2 chairs and a table in the room as well.  It was nice to have a large t.v, large bench for luggage and a large refrigerator.  Other amenities included, iron and board, hair dryer, Keurig type coffee maker.  The lighting in the room was not so good.  One lamp on desk and one lamp on bedside table on one side.  The other side of the bed had no table or lamp or outlet for chargers.  The love seat had no lamp.  The 2 chairs and table had no lamp.  So it was hard to find a comfortable place to sit and read after dark.

A Hidden Gem

Hidden gem!

A comfortable lodging in a state park

Beautiful Park

Upside: The rooms were clean (except for several lady bugs and stink bugs, but I don't think that can be helped this time of year), the bed and pillows were comfortable.  Coffee K cups were provided, as was fresh water to put in the fridge in the room. The ladies were friendly.  

Downside: The Bathrooms aren't well lit, when we arrived one evening, we asked if we could have the fireplace lit up. We were told that it could only be lighted when the temperature outside reached 32 degrees. I mentioned that it was 33 degrees (it was) but it was still a no go.  Our tv had been unhooked, so we connected the Dish back to the tv.  We still couldn't get it to work, so we called down to the desk.  No one ever came to help connect the tv.  So we had no fire place, no tv but made the best of it anyway.  

If you can stay closer to Parkersburg, that's your best bet!

We stayed at the lodge from 8/17/23 through 8/20/23. When I booked the room, the deposit was charged to my card. When we checked in on 8/17/23, the balance due was paid at the front desk. After we arrived home, I discovered that an additional $212.00 was charged to my card. When I called to ask what the charge was for, they said it was for smoking in the room. The funny thing is neither one of us smoke. I asked for them to check into it and have the supervisor, Christy, return my call and I still have not received a call back. What a scam they are doing.

BAD EXPERIENCE

That my friends is what my family was told when they approached staff at North Bend. The branches and limbs were so bad that my handicap uncle couldn't even get around the yard until our family pitched in and gathered everything. The grass and weeds were above your knees. The mold and algae on the porch caused my cousin to slip and fall. The roll away beds were so bad that they had to put their child on the broken down couch. They had to meet a BUS STOP to retrieve towels after the staff was an hour late they left within 10 minutes of being there. That was the only way to get your towels!!! $850 of their money spend in our town at our state park was right down infuriating and embarrassing! They came a long way to stay here in this run down shack. I couldn't believe it. My uncle has health issues and is a veteran that served our country for many years. This was absolutely ridiculous and uncalled for. While our governor is wanting to invest millions into tourism, he should probably visit somewhere other then the Greenbrier and see how much these parks need updated and fixed. North Bend used to be a thriving place, so beautiful... not anymore!!!! After all... the staff was adamant.. "States bankrupt, don't look for updates!" Wow!!!!!
