Hotel Katia

As a member of the Canadian Seaforth my father was a part of the force the liberated this little seaport. After a wonderful 10 day cruise out of Rome of the Greek Islands we rented a car and drove to this sleepy little town in memory of my father. I was pleased that the townsfolk well remembered the efforts of the liberators but saddened when noting the ages of the fallen on tombstones. After a tour of the town and area we settled very comfortably into our suite in the Hotel Katia. The hotel is modern and very comfortably appointed and right on the beach as depicted. Unfortunately the day was cool and windy so we did not take a dip in the Adriatic Sea. The chef prepared a grand dinner for us accompanied by great wine and beer. Breakfast the next morning was tasty and filling. We enjoyed it in the company of fellow visitors from Ottawa. All in all the Hotel Katia was a very pleasant part of our short visit to Ortona.
