god hotel for bikers, you can  sleep  relaxes knowin that your bike is  not in front on road/parking but it is under terasse in hotel yard and with camera supervision.
We stayed 2 nights in May, so we nagotiated good price.
breakfas was rich,very various and served next to pool ;)
It is not in centar of town but everbody who even looked on map could see that so this is not a minus, if you wanna hotel in centar- go to centar!
to visit centar of Ohrid, with motocycle you need max 5 minutes..or less.
what was impottant for me ... safe parking for motocyle,  very nice rooms, and rich breakfast.. I find it in this hotel for reasnable price.

We stayed at the hotel Donco (sometimes you see DONCHO on the signs in the neigbourhood) for 1 week with a group (Choir) of 50 persons. All couples got double rooms, the singles shared twin rooms). It was a perfect place for us as a group: out of the city center but close enough (appr.15 minutes or 20 minutes walking from Ohrid lake). The hotel shows 4 stars which we considered as a 3 star equivalent of Belgian hotel standards). The rooms are on 3 floors, the top floor has rooms under an inclined wall (at 1 side of the room) and apparently their windows don't open so you only have the airco (which functioned well) to get 'fresh' air. Me and my roomy had a room on the 2nd floor and our window was at the back of the hotel (quite since the front is along a rather busy road), the view was not nice (roof tops and solar panels) but quite, and we could open the window to get really fresh air from outside. They do economize on electricity because the airco only worked when the window was completely closed ! The floor was fixed carpet, not really clean (stains) but vacuumcleaned every day. We had fresh bedsheets halfway of our stay. The towels were changed each day, even when we did not leave them on the floor to indicate we wanted fresh ones. There were a few small bottles of showergel (new ones when the others were empty), some soap bars and shower caps. Shower was clean (some little mould stains in the corners but not on the ceiling above, so it was OK, since we have the same problem at home). Enough space in clean wardrobes and drawers. TV set functioning well, some of us even found Belgian TVstations. There was a free welcome drink upon arrival, even possibility to still take breakfast until 11 o'clock at only 3,5 Euro per person. We were shown our rooms right away by a very friendly manager and staff. Breakfast was in buffet form, about the same every morning (cold and hot dishes), local pastry and bisquits, choice of local cheese, olives, grilled vegetables, fruit juice from a machine, coffee/capucino/latte machiatto also from a machine, but very drinkable. Once did however press fresh orange juice upon request. plenty of fruit too: never ate such dellicious melon/water melon as there in Ohrid!. However it was a completely different choice of food than we're used to in Belgium, so that did make it attractive. Lunch or dinner in the evening was also simple, but tasty: in buffet form with little cards indicating what each dish was: different kind of soup each day, raw vegetables and sheep/goat cheese and olives for starters, then hot stews or meat and various kinds of pizza slices and grilled vegetables and potato dishes. For dessert there was melon/watermelon, grapes, and each day a different kind of local pastry/cake (very sweet to us and always with honey). I think we really got to eat Macedonian food as the locals have, so this is why one goes on holiday too. We ate outside around the swimmingpool for every meal because of the nice weather (but one could sit inside in a climated dinnerroom too) so again: this was really holiday feeling. The staff serving us was super kind, intending to fulfill the slighted wish we had. They relly tried to keep the small swimming pool as clean as possible, but it did have a dark rim al around. However no one got sick from that. One of our choir members (an elderly man) got sick during our stay (drank water from the tap/ or from the freshly washed grapes which he had), but the hotel manager helped him as much a possible in calling a doctor to the hotel, and sending a staff member to a pharmacy to get his medication and then explaining him how he had to use it. And then they saw to it that he had adapted food and asked him every day whether he was feeling better.We had been warned by the Corendon (travel agency) assistant that the tap water was OK, but that it could cause problems to us (Europeans) who are not used to it (But my daughter was in Schotland this summer, and they had the same problem over there), so the hotel itself is not to be blaimed for this. You are also welcome to change Euros into Macedonian Denar at the reception desk of the hotel, at no extra charge, at even a better rate than in some exchange offices we noticed, and at the end of the stay you can even change back to Euros. They also accept every current creditcard in the hotel (American Express/Visa/Mastercard/Maestro) so it was very convenient for us, since we were there for a Choir festival/competition and not always had time to go and change money in the city. Upon our departure at 7 in the morning, the full staff present came to wave us goodbey. So we felt like the hotel had been a real home to us during that week. Some of us even are already planning to go back next year or so!

Never had a hotel with such friendly staff!

Stayed a few nights in this hotel and have to say I'm a bit torn how to feel about it. On one hand the hotel has an exceptionally friendly staff that speaks English well and other positive aspects. Unfortunately, there are also a lot of negative things to write about.

The positive: friendly staff, a large selection of foods in the breakfast buffet, good sleep quality, great exchange rates for Macedonian denars

The negative: outdated rooms and dirty carpets, no possibility to iron clothes (only laundry service is available), location far from the city center (15 min walk or you can take a taxi for 1 euro), hotel reception on the second floor (not very safe)

This is a good choice if you are looking for a basic hotel. We would most probably choose another hotel next time closer to the city center, and with a more modern and cleaner look.

Average hotel outside of city center but with friendly staff

We stayed a week at Hotel Donco, although we had booked at Hotel Diplomat. Donco is a comfortable hotel with a very friendly staff. Rooms are on the small side, bathroom is OK, shower is OK. You have to watch the time of the day, later in the evening the water is cold, same in the morning. Also it is wise to have a torchlight handy, black-outs occur regularly. Airco works OK, when you open the window the airco switches off automatically. It is not the most modern hotel but comfortable and clean. Bicycles can be rented at the reception.
The hotel is located at about 15 minutes easy walk from the city center. 
Breakfast is good, a variety of bread, cold cuts, eggs, drinks is available and is supplied regularly. 
It is a pity that the bar was only pointed out on our last evening, it is not lighted unless someone comes there, but if you don't know there is a bar you don't go there.
Altogether a hotel on a good location with good sleeping quality. The hotel is rated four stars, but I would place it at three.

Comfortable hotel, friendly staff

This hotel is not what I would expect for a four star hotel. Don't get me wrong, it's quite ok. But for that money you just expect more. The hotel is situated close to a buzy road, so if you appeciate a quiet hotel, this might not be the one. It's also not that close to the city center. The rooms are quite small, and for my taste quite tacky. The water pressure is so high you can't wash your hands without being sprayed all over with water. The corridors smelled strongly of perfume.  The breakfast buffet was good, but they didn't refill the coffe, "juice" or other things, so when we came there about an hour before it closed, there were not that many things to choose from. The staff was quite friendly.

Too expensive, oldfashioned and not central.

This is by far the worst 4 star hotel I have ever slept. The main reason is that it was not clean...not clean at all. I didn't mind the bad decoration of the rooms, or the inconvenient location of the hotel, but the fact that the rooms were so dirty that you didn't want to put your shoes out or to use their sheets to cover in your sleep, that was really irritating. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
