Amazing place!! We have been twice, and we will definitely be back again! The apartments are beautifully furnished, with everything you need. Fantastic facilities to keep the whole family entertained. My daughter particularly enjoys the swimming pool and the cinema room. The lovely owners work quietly in the background to ensure everything is perfect, but are there if you need them and can't do enough for you. Most importantly, it's a calm, friendly, understanding environment for those with autism or other additional needs.

3rd amazing stay for my family. Really felt supported. Facilities were excellent and accommodation had all we needed and was very clean. Perfect place for my son who has autism. We wanted to stay longer than a week!

Lovely time as always clean and tidy and enjoyed the pool and music room ect and great family that run it a lovely holiday centre for special needs would recommend it was our 4th stay here enjoyed seeing the local sites on the lovely isles of Wight thanks again the Trimby/Barron family.

Great facilities for our special family member, he especially loved the music room and the pool. The extra safety and security features make for a relaxed stay. Helpful and thoughtful staff. Will book again.

I hope a parent of an autistic child reads this and books. You won’t regret. It is incredibly well thought out with so many personal touches it means you can really unwind.

This is truly a great place for a family.  It caters to all, including siblings of autistic children.  We have now visited 5 times and it delivers every time.  Autistic son loves it - he is free to use facilities as he wants.  Daughter loves it as she has space to be herself while he is happy.
Beach is not far away and is great!

This was our second visit to Hartlands and it was as good as the first. Accommodation is fantastic and Colin and his family really go above and beyond to make your stay as easy and comfortable as possible. The swimming pool is fantastic and you get to have it all to yourself. Our boys love the garden especially the swing! We didn’t use any of the other facilities this time but they are also superb. 
All of the above leads to a relaxing holiday without worry and lots to do. 
We can’t wait to go back again

We stayed in Vincent room lovely couple & family who run it & enjoyed all the things that were on offer there such as the pool & music room ect & good value for money & great for any one who's has austim & easy to find things & clean & tidy & made us feel welcome would come again in the future enjoyed our stay here thanks

We haf a great holiday. Lovely and understanding owners. Lovely accommodation and super facilities for all imcluding our grandson who has many problems and is severely autistic. Super swimming pool and large sensory room enabled relaxed and happy holiday. Great value too.

Having just read all the reviews so far there is little to add. Our family visit in a very wet February was not spoiled by the weather thanks to the relaxing well equipped tailormade facilities of Hartlands which has " heart" at its centre. Autism is truly accepted, catered for and embraced! 
Our grandson had freedom to be himself and his parents felt relaxed and enjoyed the ambiance of this well planned facility. Thank you to the team. Bonus was the priority booking on the Ferry. We very much hope to return.

Another fantastic stay

Good hoilday centre

Exceptional

This place is amazing.
Firstly we stayed in Emily cottage, beautiful room, kitchen is better than mine at home. So fully equipped and has everything you need to make or even bake anything you want to. Bedrooms nice and comfortable, and the living area was lovely.

Swimming pool was lovely, balls and a few things that can be used in there, it being heated was such a bonus and being able to use it by yourself is such a plus.

The pool tables are a great idea and we used them every day and it's very relaxing. We had fun in the music room even though no one found a hidden talent it was fun to try. The gym was also a good area and we used it occasionally. We didn't use the sauna but it is a very nice extra. 

The cinema was nice and so was having some computers to play games. The sensory room was great, not too much going on but enough to keep my son busy and he loved it. We didn't use the art room as my son is a little too young but from what we saw it was really equipped and had lots to do.

The whole place was clean and tidy and you were never felt like it was anything but like your home aswell. And the owners are lovely and always there to help no matter what time it is.

It's a lovely place and we'll definitely be returning and it was lovely to have a place that my son could also enjoy.

Absolutely amazing 

Hartlands is such a serene, peaceful and beautiful place to stay. We stayed in the holiday apartment called Alberts Pad which was spacious but cosy at the same time. Lots of modern facilities including a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. It even had it's own private garden with patio furniture. This is a specialist hotel for families with a child on the autistic spectrum. All sensory needs and safety aspects have been well thought out. The very large sensory area with soothing lights, toys and seating was my son's favourite place. We also as a family enjoyed the heated salt water swimming pool which was so warm and relaxing. So nice not to have the smell of chlorine. We had private use of this as a family which was easy to book out time slots whenever we wanted. The warmth and helpfulness from Elaine, Colin and Sam was very much appreciated. Sam went out of his way to accommodate our needs when I mentioned not wanting the sensor light on in the hallway as it kept me awake. It was no problem and with the help of Colin they removed the bulb. Elaine was equally great with talking through some safety aspects of the apartments and locks on the apartment doors which is so important for families with children with ASD who are vulnerable to a lack of security. On the whole we relaxed so much and the Isle of Wight is beautiful especially Shanklin and Sandown. We would love to return for a stay in the future. Thank you x

Very relaxed and comfortable stay,

It was a great stay with the: (Heated) Swimming Pool, Censory Room, IT Room, Games Room, and Music Room. And there is also more stuff to do! The cottages were attached to the main building and the facilities were free to use (anytime). This place is definitely recommended for people with autism; the staff are nice. It was quite expensive but it was probably worth the cost.

Great for people with Autism!!

Following a number of holiday disasters we did some research into autism friendly places and were surprised at how few there are in the UK. Hartlands came up so we decided to give it a go....turned out to be a great decision following the week we’ve just had. 

The photos on the website don’t really do it justice in terms of space (family areas and apartments). Colin and Elaine have put a significant amount of thought, time and effort into creating an environment that works on every level - from the sensory room to the arts and crafts area, there’s plenty to do. The apartments were fully occupied however it felt like we had the place to ourselves for most of the time, and the occasions we didn’t were absolutely fine as ‘you’re in the same boat’ which is clearly the point! 

Our youngest daughter who has autism has previously struggled with swimming pools...we literally couldn’t get her out of this one! The pool itself is a good size, with some toys etc available to use, the time you have is exclusive to your family, you just need to book it out for specific times but all very easy/relaxed. 

The apartment itself (we stayed in the Isaac suite) was clean, modern and well equipped with everything we needed...Colin and Elaine, along with their children Sam and Lucy are readily on hand to help with any questions or general advice (we found them incredibly responsive both prior and during our stay). 

It was our first visit to the IoW and we enjoyed visiting some of the different places/beaches (we preferred Ryde beach as it’s huge so plenty of space). Shanklin itself is only a 5-10 min walk for restaurants, takeaways and shops....with a good size co op close by. 

Overall I’d highly recommend trying this place if you have family members on the spectrum. Our daughter can be very challenging/unpredictable but she genuinely enjoyed herself. 

Important tip - we booked our ferry via the owners which not only gave us a significant discount, it also meant we had priority boarding which was a real bonus for getting on and off with minimal fuss.
