We LOVED this guesthouse. We turned up on their doorstep without a booking and they let us in straight away - turns out we were their only guests for the night (being the middle of winter). The owners were super lovely and we chatted with them for quite a while. The whole place is very comfy and the shared bathroom is enormous. The location is quiet (like everywhere out this way), and has a really nice outlook. Plus, the breakfast was to die for! So good. For the price there's no way you can do any better.

This is the best accommodation we had during our road trip around Iceland. It is located somewhat on the edge of the village. The hosts are fantastic - helpful, accommodating and friendly. The rooms are very modern, clean and comfortable. There is a huge bathroom and the breakfast that is provided is spectacular, not only from the spread but also it's a warm breakfast (for some reason not a common thing in Iceland). The hosts run horse riding trips in summer and the photos of the trip look great. The rooms have a lovely view out to the ocean. Highly recommended. 

My wife and I stayed here for a night during our eight day anniversary trip in Iceland. Hvammstangi was a nice little hamlet breaking up the drive between Snæfellsnes and Akureyri. After checking out reviews, we decided to try out a guesthouse, which we had never done before. We could not be happier with our decision! Guesthouse Hofdabraut was modern, clean, and comfortable. A husband and wife duo operate this guesthouse. Although the wife, who is the one who speaks English, was not there, we still felt comfortable interacting with the husband, who presented a welcome sheet laying out everything we needed or wanted to know about our stay and was very charming and helpful (he even poured hot water to melt the ice off our car’s windshield when we departed). The rooms were spacious and the shared bathroom was very clean and convenient and everything felt like home when we got there. Breakfast was homemade and delicious and the common area where we ate was ideal. The rooms have a beautiful view of the mountains and water, and your own private door, which I’m sure would be lovely in the summertime, but was also lovely in the winter, especially if you’re lucky enough to view the northern lights. They did make an appearance for me, albeit the white-gray color rather than the sparkling green (still neat to see). 

Amazing guesthouse, modern style with all type of comfort, facing the sea. Located in a lovely countryside village, it has all the comfort of a hotel but with the warm atmosphere of a private house! Well done!!

Highly recommend this guesthouse! Fantastic breakfast, nice rooms, clean, great view, lovely owners and a good price. 
The owner only speaks icelandic but his wife speaks english. If she‘s not at home you can call her everytime and there are some papers in english where everything you have to know is written down.
