AFTER LEAVING THE CASTLE HOTEL, TALGARTH (VILE, FILTHY, DISGUSTING PLACE)

We booking into The Elan Hotel, Rhayader.  We have stayed there a few times.  A very pleasant, friendly and welcoming hotel.  The rooms are clean, ample space and well equipped for a couple of nights stay.
There is a friendly, spacious, and comfortable lounge area, as well as the bar.

Only stopped in here for breakfast whilst passing through, the breakfast was cooked perfectly, the lady who was serving was so pleasant. We also were talking with some locals who were all so friendly and made us feel very welcome. If I ever stay in the area I would certainly be looking to stay at the Elan Hotel.

This is a very caring hotel. My son was taken ill, and the staff were outstanding in their care until I arrived the next day to look after him.

As to the hotel itself, it was well-priced and very quiet. I would certainly stay there under normal circumstances.

Stayed here for 4 nights in July, was the busiest season for them, and TOTALLY LOVED our stay, the food, especially home made curries were amazingly delicious. The bar staff were very kind and attentive throughout and the cleaning ladies were excellent too, breakfast was amazing only downside would be the car park entrance is a little narrow, wonderful owners, overall a very pleasant stay and beautiful experience.

So sorry I am a bit late with this review and I would like to say that my stay was absolutely lovely. My room was spotless and just had everything that I needed for a comfortable stay. I was touring North Wales by motorcycle but came down to Rhayader to spend some time in the area. This hotel is well situated for the town and also to go and look at the Elan Valley Dams. Martin and Iris are such lovely and friendly people and the staff are also so happy and friendly.
Lee, who was behind the bar, looked after me during the evenings as I eat and drank there and he was extremely friendly, helpful and informative about the area. I just liked the whole atmosphere at this hotel as the staff really made it such an enjoyable stay and that's what it is all about.
Just a big thank you to you all as it was brilliant!


What a chance find …was at elan valley dams and asked someone if they known of somewhere to stay just for one night..🤔🤔🤔They told me the place to go and see if they any rooms left …cannot miss it it’s green…😊😊😊😊…yes it’s green but what a great place ..staff really friendly and the rooms spotless….would stay again soon as be back to cycle and walk round the missed Dams …😊😊😊

Spent a lovely Thursday night at the Elan Hotel.

Our room was clean, bright and very comfortable - we were at the rear of the hotel overlooking the hills. Ensuite was just right - lovely shower. Added bonus of a kettle with tea & coffee making items.

Very easy access to town centre, shops and other pubs. Local attractions incl the Kite Feeding which we did on a previous trip and can highly recommend. A short trip along the valley and you will see the various dams & reservoirs - we were fortunate enough this time to see the water going over the now refurbished Craig Gosh dam.

Had our evening meal in the hotel - cannot fault the food for quality, quantity or value. Enjoyed a very good evening in the hotel and the staff / owners could not do enough for us - very friendly & welcoming.

Breakfast was cooked to order with meat & eggs being sourced locally - again cannot fault the quality, quantity or value.

All in all a lovely time spent at the Elan Hotel - thank you for making our stay so relaxing and enjoyable :-)

Had a fab night at The Elan.  Owners were really accommodating, and nothing was too much trouble.  The room was great, plenty of space and lovely and clean.  Evening meal was tasty and plenty of choice, something for everyone.  Good selection of drinks at the bar.

Not long returned from a 4 night stay in the picturesque town of rhayader in Wales. Had the pleasure to stay at this lovely wee hotel. Owners and staff are all fantastic, as are the friendly regulars in the downstairs pub. Food and drinks all reasonably priced and very good. Can't wait to return.

PERFECT RETREAT FOR A FEW NIGHTS.

Amazing stay

Great welcome from the owners and they put on a late lunch for us. The room was spotless and comfortable with some great views from it especially after the snow had fallen. Very welcoming towards our guests who called to see us and some really good ales on offer. We certainly will be returning here on our visits to Rhayader .A big thank you from Gareth and Carol..

the room was small but very well laid out and plenty of room for a couple. Lovely hosts/ owner Martin took extra time to make sure our stay was comfortable. Even after a very busy carnival weekend he and his staff had smiles and great focus on customers. We would recommend this hotel. We enjoyed a great cooked breakfast too.

Chose the Elan hotel because it had received good reviews and it's location near the centre of Rhayader. We weren't disappointed in either the hotel or the area. The hotel was as described, comfortable clean rooms, good breakfast and very friendly, helpful staff. Located within the town centre and a short drive to the Elan Valley. Will stay there again.

Visit to Rhayader and the Elan Valley.

Very pleased with this hotel. We seemed to come at a quiet time, which was to our advantage, staff were friendly and helpful, not to mention very attractive. Evening meal was very good and reasonably priced (my standards), and breakfast was full cooked, and/or cereals, juices and coffee. The hotel was refurbished about 18 months ago, so most of the hotel is still looking fresh, rooms were clean with good beds and a great shower/loo. There is limited parking right outside if you are lucky, otherwise there is free remote parking about a 5 min walk away. We were a bit worried about this, but everything was ok.We spoke to the hotel staff directly before going, to confirm details, and ensure that we got the rooms we wanted. They were very helpful with this, and everything went smoothly.Local area was surprisingly quiet, but apparently normal for late August. Several pubs to try out, interesting bric-a-brac shop, couple of takeaways and usual utility shops. We would definitely stay again.

Rhayader Elan Hotel 24/25 August 2017

The hotel is a pleasant place to stay. Room was clean and comfortable with coffee/ tea making options. The ensuite was good too. We had boooked for breakfast which was lovely. Due to weather, heavy rain, we decided to east dinner in hotel as well. Although there are plenty options to eat nearby am happy to recommend hotel restaurant.

Mid Wales Visit

The hotel is right in town centre and is in an excellent position for touring the area, staff were all great and the breakfast was excellent.The room was very clean and comfortable with good storage, the bathroom was very good and the shower was excellent.Lots of tea sugar etc for a change... lots of hotels now just put bare essentials for one brew a day.The only critisism is condition of the road into the car park but this is by no means major.Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel and staff and I will be staying again.

Perfect for touring.

Typical of hotels of the area there is no main reception area as the hotel is fronted by a bar and restaurant so checkin is at the bar. Our room was of average size with a decent wardrobe and storage , tastefully decorated and a very comfortable bed . Breakfast was very good serving local produce. Service was a little slow given that we were the only ones taking breakfast but as a small hotel Sunday morning staff would have been limited. This could have been a perfect 10 except for the following points1 tap in bathroom wouldn't full close off so ran constantly as the the soap dispenser. 2 card machine on checkout was working so had to withdraw cask to cover the bill . Apparently this is a common problem in areas where internet signal is poor . 3 table for breakfast was located in a rear restaurant and overlooked the hills but unfortunately a not so tidy rear beer garden. I suspect the refund has yet to extend to the rear of the hotel              In balance these are minor observations and we would definitely stay here again . The food in reputed to be very good and I would agree if breakfast was anything to go by so next time i would book for an evening meal . On this occasion we were meeting friends for a meal in another town. Regarding location generally iits located on the Main Street with its own parking to the rear . This is a historic little town and set in the most wonderful landscape all on the doorstep
