92 reviewsThe hotel is probably the oldest of the area, as it was built in 1811 for servicing the thermal baths. But the current shape was attained at the end of the 19th century, with the birth of the hiking tourism as a second tier offer to the Carezza Grand Hotel a few miles away. Then as now it seems to have been the first choice for people that could afford the grand hotel but preferred more relaxed surrounding in the best location for hiking, as the king of Saxonia was a frequent guest. Because of this history the rooms are huge, and today they are completely renovated. Gone is the dark room of the heyday where guests could develop their own photographs, in is the sauna and a small swimming pool fed with the thermal "miracoulous" waters. One of the highlights is the renting of e-bikes at a very reasonable price, even if no biker with an e-bike you can tackle the hardest climb and roam around. Ask for a room with a balcony and the best view of the Rosengarten you can get anywhere, and you will be able to watch the mountain turn red at sunset when the garden of rose of King Laurin is once again revealed.
