Chalice Hill House

I have never experienced a more peaceful night's sleep. The house, grounds, and people are all wonderful. I have literally dreamed of this enchanting manor since my return home. I was there in June. The grounds were breathtakingly beautiful!

Gay is a wonderful hostess, and it was a privilege to stay in this beautiful house. So close to the centre of Glastonbury.  A breakfast to die for.  Thoroughly recommended.  Parking is plentiful.  Right next to the public footpath up to the Tor.

Beautiful house, in a quiet area, 5 mins walk into town, and close to tor -I.e. excellent location.  House beautifully decorated and comfortable. Excellent breakfast.  Very friendly owners - and that includes the dog. Stayed in the Phoenix room which had a great view.

Wonderful place in a wonderful location with a great hostess

Lovely manor house b &b

The house and gardens were quite lovely to see - especially the gardens. The House was nearby the Tor, the red and the white springs, and to downtown as well. Convenient. The views from the rooms were quite nice. It was a very old house, but the indoor plumbing worked well. My only issue with the plumbing was with the orangy bacterial growth all over the shower walls, which blended in a bit too well with the unglazed ceramic tiles that had an orangy quality to them. No one seemed to wash the walls of the shower stall.

This was an expensive place to stay. I was there five days. The house was for sale then, but I do not know if it ever sold. There was a family who owned it living there on the ground floor. The woman owner was burned out, and it showed. Her husband, if he walked by one or into the dining room, would go about his business and not acknowledge the presence of guests - never speaking or making eye-contact. There was an equally ill-mannered Irish Wolfhound who thought it fun to com running up from behind as I walked down the stairs, forcing himself between me and the hand rail, knocking me off balance. He also adored sneaking up under the large dining table at breakfast time and sticking his nose and tongue into one's hand which was properly in the lap while eating. He was there every morning, too.

Speaking of breakfast, the poor lady who ran the show thought it a fine idea to burn the omelets bragging on how she loved the crunchy exterior. Omelets come from the USA. I come from the USA. I know omelets. These were burned. She might ought to have called them something else. 

Why did I stay? My taxi driver said there were not many rooms available at the time, and I probably should stay put. He took me somewhere interesting each day, so I was gone quite a lot gathering data for my book.

I have been back to Glastonbury since, but did not stay at Chalice Hill House.

A Mixed Bag

unbelievable! 
I've called in just an hour ago to this B&B, and I've encountered the most arrogant snobbish woman on this earth. 
I've asked a few details about the room and this arrogant thing said "Well, if it's too small for you than I'm sure someone else would love to take it!" I decided to ignore that stupid remark and say I would like to book it for this friday and asked if there's a room for a deal as we're on a budget (and i thought that they rather have a place fully booked than a room being empty!!!)
She then proceeded to insult by saying immediately, "well then, why don't you go somewhere else!!! byebye"  and cut the phone on me! 
I really can't believe there's someone so arrogant in the hotelier business that exists!!! 
I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone and am so glad I'm not booking this place after all. Lucky escape. Not WORTH  a penny of my hard earned cash!!!
Desgusting!!!!
