Don’t be deceive by it’s run down looks from the outside as the owners did a very nice deco for the rooms and one of them even have a nice jacuzzis which was working! Friendly host who chatted with us during breakfast and also shared some tips on places to visit around the area, highly recommend!

Nice stay with a free upgrade!

We stayed for two nights in October, in room 5, a deluxe king size room with the most amazing bathroom & jacuzzi bath.

Contact with the B&B was very good, lot's of pro-active email communications, a telephone call & detailed instructions for contactless check in.

There is ample parking right outside & it is very easy to find on the A82 heading north at the top end of Fort Augustus. 

The room was very nice, spotlessly clean & modern, but with a twist, in that it had a traditional four-poster bed. The bathroom is very spacious, with ultra-modern lighting, twin sinks & a fully functioning jacuzzi bath. 

The team at the venue were brilluant, Alasdair really was the host with the most. Nothing was too much trouble for him & the team, extra milk, extra pillows & new towels at the end of the day, they always put their guests first. Alasdair was super friendly & had the most wonderful knowledge of the highlands & the local area, with travel, route & sight seeing tips over breakfast each morning. 

And on the subject of breakfasts, they were superb. Lot's of variety & choice, everything you would expect & any type of egg cooked for you there & then. Top service!

The guest house is very handily placed for Fort Augustus, with just a 2 minute walk in to the town centre, where there are all types of food & gifts available, & you can watch the boats navigate the stairs of locks to / from The Caledonian Canal & Loch Ness.

Everything about our stay was perfect, I would highly recommend you stay here if you are staying in the area, & if you are not, then I recommend you do, for the stay alone.

Amazing stay, fantastic host.

A bungalow type building with ample parking but as it is in an elevated position, with only a small sign, it can be easily missed from the road.  Note that there was no secure parking for motorbikes but the parking is not immediately adjacent to the road.  The B&B is ideally located, a short walk into town but away from the throngs of visitors.  Check-in is contact free with instructions given via email but if, like us, you miss it, there are phone numbers posted, so that you can speak directly with Alasdair, the host.  The room was large, comfortable and clean with a four poster bed. large screen tv, decent wifi and a large bathroom with twin jacuzzi bath.  Breakfast is in a separate dining area and you arrange a suitable time with the host.  The cooked element of the breakfast is served via a hotplate and therefore you can eat as much as you like and there was certainly plenty there.  Alasdair was also more than happy to help us out with planning our evening, or any other activities.  All in all, a very enjoyable relaxing stay.

Just what is needed after days in the saddle

Stayed with another couple in 2 double rooms as a finale to the road trip. The double rooms were fresh, clean, modern and above average. The decor and the shower room were a credit to the host, the shower room was lovely, the fitments were first class.  The super breakfast was prepared and served by our host,  he was attentive and friendly, his local knowledge was extremely helpful.
This was our first visit to the B&B,  location was an easy walk to the local pub, shops, canal boats and locks, an entirely happy stay and great choice, we will return!!

NC500+4 Appin to find a Gem

we had a lovely room facing the road but there was no noise heard in the night and I am a light sleeper.Room was tastefully decorated; loved the deer duvet and antler lampshade.Bed was comfortable.Bathroom was modern, with a multi head shower , and great three way vanity unit.Breakfast room was lovely with comfy chairs.Help yourself brekky of toast, cereals, fruit , scrambled eggs , bacon , beans.you can also order fried or poached eggs(only missing thing for me was fried tomatoes but still a wonderful breakfast to start the day). host Alastair was friendly and welcoming , he even dropped us off some milk at 9pm at night ( we didn’t realise he lived down the road and not on the premises)…. So 10/10 from us .Enjoyed our three night stay

Lovely Bb five minutes from town

Clean comfortable room with a Spotless bathroom. Bed was comfortable and decor was lovely. Super cooked breakfast and really friendly chatty host. Would recommend. 5 minute walk into town. Only negative road noise if window open at front.

Stay Here!

I cannot describe how wonderful this place is. It was almost a year ago I stayed but it's so worthy of a positive line or two. Alistair (if I remember rightly) is a natural host and his designing of the rooms is superb. Comfortable, full of quality. I stayed in the twin which was modern, shower was amazing and just felt so warmly. Breakfasts is equally worth shouting about. So much choice great taste. Will 100% return. It's particularly nice as well as Alistair evidently put a lot of time and thought into his place, I feel some places get away with poor quality because of the location. Alistair's place offers both quality and location. Thank you!!

Passion project success

Lovely location at the south end of Loch Ness. Arrived and found our way in, due to COVID all still rather hands off and normal cooked breakfast was not available.  That was dealt with beautifully by Alisdair who arranged Bacon and Egg rolls and lots of continental goodies, we certainly didn't go hungry.
Lovely bathroom and terrific water pressure.  The weather was lovely and warm, but had it been chilly, the 3 heaters available would have been very welcome. Our only negative was with the pillows (could have done with an update and been firmer, plumper and a mini fridge would have been wonderful.  Other than those very small things we had a really lovely first night in Scotland staying at Appin House - thank you Alisdair

Lovely location, comfortable and cosy

Visited in October 2022, stayed one night. I stayed in one of the small twin rooms. Had to phone for access which all went smoothly. 

I was really impressed with the room. It had clearly just been refurbished to a high standard. Nice decor. Small but really nice ensuite. The bed was comfortable and the shower was absolutely great.

Was pleasantly surprised to find a continental breakfast and hot roll waiting outside my door in the morning. Really enjoyed it. 

The surrounding garden needs a bit of tidying up but that’s really my only negative.

I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Pleasant stay

A friendly and welcoming host in an ideally situated location. Room was clean and well presented. Shower was great. Lovely breakfast this morning. 5 minute walk to the loch and centre of the village. On site parking. Brilliant wifi. Would return. Many thanks. Kim & Kev
