Tongabezi Lodge

It was fantastic in every respect. Our guide and valet spoiled us like nothing we’ve ever experienced before.  The food was first class, fresh and healthy and delicious. Anything we could possibly have desired was provided to us with before we could even think of it. We are so appreciative of the care that we received.  It really was a dream vacation.

Beautiful setting and very involved and kind staff. 

I also consider the concept of Green Safaris very interesting; through your visit you contribute to the several ideologic purposes of Green Safaris . Such as good and free private schooling for the children of the staff and for the community. Also they provide in housing facilities for their staff. They really take good care of their people and the community. 

We spoke to the manager of Tongabezi Island and he said: "I started as a barman and now I am the manager. Green Safaris the best employer for all of us. "

It was all great; lodge, activities, people and services all with great smiles and so many surprises! Also the food was fantastic. Thank you Malemia and team, especially Moses and Emanuel for giving us a big smile every day!
Food was great and sundowner cruise fantastic as trip to Vic Falls and walking rhino safari with Eddie.

My husband and I spent 3 nights and 2 days at this very wonderful place on the banks of the Zambezi River, not far from Victoria Falls.  The accommodations are lovely: 5 large, beautifully decorated cottages with sitting area, deck and a view of the river, situated among shaded walkways leading to the main eating area (several decks, as well as indoor seating) and pool.  The food may have been the best we have ever had, anywhere!  Lunch on the river in a silent boat, and an evening river cruise, were special treats.  Our excellent guide, Abi, took us to Victoria Falls (amazing!) and to Livingstone National Park (home of some well-guarded “white” rhinos), among other points of interest; and Aggrey introduced us to the Tongabezi Trust School.  Led by Mwila, the staff was warm, welcoming and accommodating in every way, and we would love to return!

We spent three nights at Tongabezi in a River Cottage and had a fabulous time. We were mainly looked after by Abi and Rita who both provided outstanding service. The  Victoria Falls were obviously the main highlight but lunch and the two sundowners on the River Zambezi were also spectacular. Nothing was too much trouble and we dined in a different part of the lodge at every meal. The food was delicious and we couldn’t have been looked after any better. Whilst all the staff were fantastic and friendly, special thanks to Abi and Rita.

Tongabezi is amazing!! I stayed for one week and didnt want to leave. If you are traveling from Zimbabwe it is very easy to cross the border and get to the hotel (they will arrange everything for you)Pros: The rooms are huge, internet is perfect (which was an issue in other places on my trip), rooms are elegant and modern (the decoration is BEAUTIFUL) and the food is really good (and healthy!) and the whole place is run perfect Mwila, the manager. Also- they have a gym! Which is amazing as many lodges dont have one. The trainer, Bruce is great guy and he is always there to help with the machines. Cons- I cant think of any in the hotel, it truly has been one of my best stays anywhere in the world.

An incredibly beautiful location overlooking the Zambezi. Beautiful lodges.Ours was very spacious and luxurious (the secluded outside bath was amazing). We were looked after by our lovely valet Yvonne who was attentive without being intrusive. Together with our guide Obie they put together some amazing experiences such as lunch on an island in the river with an amazing view.   Obie was very knowledgeable and put together an itinerary that matched our interests - being on the edge of the Falls and seeing the baby rhino were especial treats. 

The staff are all so friendly, the views stunning, the rooms luxurious, the food delightful and the experiences offered will live long in the memory. 

It was the perfect ending to our journey through Botswana and Zimbabwe. We’d definitely recommend ending  such a journey on a high here as very convenient for Livingstone Airport too.

A great place with excellent facilities and staff - Jato And Phixon in particular were everything you could want in a personal valet and guide
One day we saw the Victoria Falls - in rain and sunshine - in the morning and in the afternoon walked near to white rhino
Evenings could be spent overlooking the Zambezi listening to the hippos not far away, drinking the excellent wine and eating the fabulous food

A wonderful riverside lodge

We had the most incredible stay at Tongabezi to start our honeymoon! The entire staff was so welcoming and friendly, especially Agatha and Lawrence who made our stay so special. Some highlights of our stay were the sunset boat rides and Victoria Falls walking tours, both with Lawrence. In addition, the food was delicious! We’d highly recommend a stay here!

What can I say? Outstanding personalised service from the minute we touched down at Livingston airport.  Our guide/driver, Douglas, whose knowledge of both nature and the history of the area, was on call and willing to take us wherever we wished, whether it be a river cruise, trip to the Falls etc.  Our personal valet, Veronica, was always ready and smiling whether it was for drinks on the deck or towels and tea at the pool.  The food was excellent, and the chef even went to the bother of preparing us special Zambian dishes of Mopani worms and Kapenta our final the night, which my partner had specially requested.  The lodge is at a lovely location on the banks of the Zambezi, each cottage has a deck overlooking the river and set apart in the lovely lodge grounds.  The lodge has its own organic vegetable garden to supply the lodge, and I spent a delightful morning with the head gardener exploring the grounds.  Quite frankly I can't wait to return.
