Morichal Largo

Great hotel with great food, service and common areas. The location is perfect 2 of the most important shopping plaza just at walking distance. On one of the most important/busy avenue of the city. The braserie restaurant has amazing fresh cuts of meat, poultry and seafood. Best place to have dinner.

Best of the best

Sadly the hotel went to public hands many years ago and the money injection for improving things stopped. The hotel lacks many things like fast service, nice rooms and clean spaces. Hope in the future will return to private hands that improved the current state. The only good thing I could say is that the shows presented here tends to be really nice, despite beign small rooms.

The hotel seems better days

Have stayed many places in Venezuela, stayed here last week for one night as a last resort, as my preferred hotel was fully booked
in a reasonably safe compound with security as you drive in (sometimes) reception is as you would expect.(slow) the room was old, very old with grotty stained carpets, the bedding was old.
The bathroom was clean but again very old and both the bath and sink were black due to enamel loss.not the best.
Its ok for one night.
The breakfast was actually very good by Venezuelan standards offering quite a bit of variety for all.
The staff were friendly and helpful. didn't use the pool or other facilities. Reception bathrooms were horrendous.

last resort

We stayed here for 3 nights for a Rotary Club conference. The check-in and check-out took at least 45 minutes for each, and we were the only ones checking out at that moment. The bathrooms were moldy, the wooden doors chipped at the bottom, or water-damaged where not chipped. The shower curtains were not long enough to keep the water from splashing out onto the bathroom floor and flooding it.The noise level in the hallways was deafening, lots of teenagers also were at the hotel for a kung-fu tournament, with no adult control at all, so they screamed, ran, and played music in the hallways almost all night. Hotel staff did little to control the noise after we called them a few times.

Used the public bathrooms while attending the conference, they were not maintained very well, dirty, toliets broken/unusable, some were full of crap and not flushed, etc.

Would absolutely never go back!

Terrible rooms, bathrooms moldy

One of the worst hotels I have stayed in.  We held a technical session there for 10 days this May.  Painfully slow check in to start---it took almost two hours for a group of 10 to check in!  

Air-conditioning wasn't working in the rooms--the fans circulated moldy, slightly cool air.  The rooms and hallways smelled as if they had been shut down for years and not aired.  After several days of complaints there was a note in the room blaming the electrical power system.  Ambient temperature was around +35 C outside and about +30 inside, so it was better to circulate the moldy air than open a window at night.  Also the windows had no screens, so it was not a good idea to have them open.

Internet did not work in the room, either wireless or by cable.  Several of our people changed rooms but that did not help---internet still did not work.  The wireless internet did work in our conference room, though, so I came down there to handle e-mail.
Food was mediocre at best, and one of our group got sick from eating it.  There are no nearby restaurants so you must take a taxi to eat elsewhere.  The grilled steaks were tough as shoe leather---even the steak knives could not cut this meat!

There are no taxis at the hotel.   The desk will call one, but you may wait up to 30 minutes for one to arrive.

The pool looked lovely but was "closed for maintenance" while we were there.  Men in white Hazmat suits were observed throwing a chemical powder into the pool, so maybe not a good idea to use it anyway.  Small gym that was surprisingly always packed.  We found out that it was open to the public, so dozens of people were always there!  One treadmill, so it would take up to an hour wait to use it.  Steam room temperatures in the gym due to non-operational air conditioning.

Rooms had been partly remodeled, but baths were dirty, woodwork on bathroom appears to have been submerged at some point, as it had rotted.

There were a few good points:  the staff was friendly, and appeared to be trying, but they just could not overcome the terrible shape of the hotel and non-working facilities.  There were good facilities for our meetings, and the air conditioning worked well for a few days in our conference room.  Then it quit, and we had to move to another conference room where the a/c worked a little better for another two days before it too ceased working.

Avoid if Possible

This hotel claims to be 5 stars but is far from it!!!  I arrived and the phone system was down and after 2 days still not working. The carpet in the room is ripped and a stumbling hazard. I had to go down to the front desk and order room service which they made me pay for when it arrived even though i had left a credit card voucher at the fron desk for incidentals.  No wireless internet in the rooms you have to plug in to cable.  No laundry service provided for travelers. The bathroom sink and fixtures were all rusted and nasty with some sort of film on them.  The good thing for me is that i was only going to be there 2 nights so my punishment was over quickly.  Business travelers stay away from this hotel. It looks good on apperance but falls way short in follow through.
