Lovely warm homely room with a nice touch of two glasses and some sherry. 
Lots of milk provided for cups of tea/coffee. 
The food here is excellent. Good breakfast and the best fish and chips I’ve ever tasted! Everyone we met was friendly and helpful.

I stayed here overnight after a long week camping in orkney. Stayed a night here before my train down south. Staff were absolutely lovely ! My room was spacious and very clean. Lots of tea and sugar :) bed was very comfortable! A short walk to a BEAUTIFUL beach ! And a 6 minute walk to the ferry terminal. I felt very safe as a lone traveller. And would 100% return. The food was BEAUTIFUL aswell! Highly recommend the restaurant! And a nice seating area at the bar too ! But the staff were very helpful and made me feel very welcome.

Like many other people, we were going to 'use' Scrabster just as a springboard for Orkney and Shetland; but due to a railway strike, we decided to go a day early and spend two days there before starting out on our island trip. And what a perfect place to get into the holiday mood! The hotel is set in an absolutely idyllic spot right opposite the little port, the rooms are lovely with all the amenities plus a little bottle of sweet wine as a night cap, the staff are wonderful, there's a pub on the ground floor and a great seafood restaurant next door - what more could you want??

The Ferry Inn is a clean, comfortable base for a night or two in Caithness. The room was inexpensive but totally tidy, comfortable and snug with a great shower. The adjoining restaurant (their ownership) was very good indeed. Not a spectacular menu but everything was cooked well and ingredients were fresh, often local and of good quality. Fish, shellfish and beef were highlights, as you might imagine in the north of Scotland. My favourite aspect was the bar staff in Popeye’s (the inn’s downstairs pub). They were funny, super-friendly and definitely went the extra mile!

I pulled up outside and wasn't sure but when I went it I was surprised as the room was great and everything worked well.  Also the host left a wee dram of something in the room.  It was just a single room with ensuite but very cosy

Great little place. Lovely clean rooms. Good room facilities, including a small bottle of port, which was well received after a wet day of motorcycling.

Was driving near Thurso looking for somewhere to eat and the Ferry Inn popped up online. We rang ahead and asked if food was available and the went down. The lady who was serving was so friendly and welcoming and obviously really cared about providing amazing hospitality. We ended up sitting outside because the weather was so good. The Pint of Orkney Gold was brilliant and the food superb. Scrabster Haddock with Chips and Peas and a Chicken Caesar Burger. The Chef obviously puts a lot of passion into the food and cares about quality. All in all an amazing find right on the harbour. If you’re in the area it is a must try for  the food and service!

8 of us stayed here for 4 nights whilst attending the Scottish National Sheepdog Trials. Free parking in car park opposite which we could check on from our bedroom windows. Small beach not far away to exercise our dogs before they settled down for the night. Rooms/ beds very comfortable and exceptionally clean. Breakfast was very enjoyable, you just picked off the menu and it was cooked to order. Men had breakfast at 7am so that the could get to the trial for the start, women ate later!
Every member of staff was  out to make our stay one of enjoyment, they were all so pleasant  and they obviously all loved working at the Ferry Inn. You could join the locals at Popeyes bar or in separate lounge bar before going upstairs to the restaurant for dinner (which I will review separately).Would certainly recommend and we would stay at the Ferry Inn should we be in Caithness again.

What a terrific time we had. Every single member of the staff was so keen to make our stay a pleasant one, and they succeeded at every step.

Our evening meal in Popeyes was so fantastic. Very friendly and helpful service, great food fabulous setting, inexpensive. It could not have been better.

Had a drink in the downstairs bar too!

Breakfast the next morning, early, was the same. Absolutely top notch.

I would go back in a heart-beat!

We arrived without booking and was greeted at the door by one of the girls in charge, she was extremely pleasant and explained there would be a slight delay as they were very busy but offered us a table and a drink whilst we browsed the menu.  In no time a young waitress was taking our order who was also very attentive.  We both had a lovely meal served with great wine.  We had a great chat with the two girls at the end and now wished we had booked into stay at the hotel as we were staying 23 miles away in Wick. Highly recommend.

Accommodation booked and upon arrival a warm greeting from Molly. A spacious, clean and comfortable room with a splendid view of the working port and harbour. A utilitarian locals' pub with accommodation and restaurant. A good no nonsense breakfast but despite the location no fish options. Charming waiter and chef who was "on loan." Thankfully I was able to retrieve a proper sauce bottle as otherwise it was those horrendous plastic sachets. The restaurant has great views of the harbour. 
We booked for dinner as we were entranced by the menu options displayed in our room. To our great disappointment this was not the menu on offer at the table in the restaurant. No "catch of the day." No homemade fish pie, both of  which were our initial preferences. Don't shoot the lovely messenger, Linda. It is what it is and we settled on the salmon and "special" dish, lasagna. Both excellent ingredients and well cooked. Our wine choice was available but no advertised  Bloody Mary cocktail. No tomato juice; hey ho. 
Overall 4 stars and exceptional value for the B and B. 🇬🇧🇳🇿

Room with a view 

Great location in the harbour just a few mins from the Stromness ferry , excellent restaurant , and a great wee bar. The hotel and rooms are dated as you would expect from the price but everything worked , bed and shower were pretty good. Zero view from our room but 1 night , not an issue. Will certainly stay again.Oh , and all the staff we met were great.

Amazing Find

We stayed at the Ferry Inn for one night prior to a morning sailing to Stromness. Welcomed on check in, clean, comfortable room with ensuite shower and nice touch with the port and schooner glasses. We had a couple of drinks in Popeye's before retiring and a fab breakfast in the Upper Deck the following morning and the staff are all friendly and helpful. The ferry terminal is just along the road and the Ferry Inn provided a happy and fun start to our holiday😊

Fun place, perfectly located for the ferry

Stayed here on our first night on our road trip from John o' Groats  to Lands End. Really great location right on the harbour and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Had dinner in the public bar which was excellent and good value. 

The room was clean and tidy but a little dated  and in need of some TLC but thats represented by the cost. 

Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent and again the staff were first class.

Will visit again for sure

We love this wee and aged hotel. It's right beside the Stromness ferry and has great food and service . Wonderful staff. The building and furnishings are old and floors are creaky but everything is functional - set expectations accordingly !
