Our hosts went out of their way to make our first night on Lewis a pleasurable experience. We arrived at 10 pm and were met with tea/coffee and home made cake. Breakfast set us up for the day - including home made tattie scones and jam  - with some help and advice as to places to visit. With comfortable bedrooms and a wee bit of tablet, we could not fault our experience and would strongly recommend this B&B.

Originally I booked a stay here for five nights, and that five-night stay turned into basically a whole summer stay. I think in total I spent seven or eight weeks at Ramadale over this summer.

Staying with Margaret and Donald is like staying with your favourite Auntie and Uncle — they are such, warm, welcoming and lovely hosts. Donald is a fantastic cook so you will be served unfailingly fantastic breakfasts and if you are lucky enough to stay while the baking spirit moves him, you’ll be treated to his amazing ginger cake! Margaret is an extremely classy, gracious and kind lady who will make you feel so at home.

The single room I stayed in was really cosy, charming, quiet and the ensuite bathroom has a fantastic view of Stornoway Castle. There are tea and coffee making facilities and a huge TV screen if movie nights in during your stay is what you have in mind (knowing there is v little night life in Stornoway). The premises are extremely clean and well-kept.

You will not find a better B&B in someone’s home in the whole of Lewis and Harris. Just book it.

Not there for long but beautiful room, pleasant host, and everything I needed for a good night’s sleep. Large en-suite bathroom for my single room with a very effective shower. Would definitely recommend and visit again. Very easy access into town and to the ferry terminal. Sadly I had to leave really early so didn’t have breakfast. 

I just loved this bed and breakfast, it had a lovely atmosphere and very comfortable. I loved the style and found it quite quirky very different. Donald is a gem and nothing is too much trouble. I was particularly taken that when Donald found out I was diabetic he  went to the trouble of getting me diabetic marmalade fior breakfast ( fantastic breakfast) and snacks I was just so impressed by his thoughtfulness and kindness. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast and the next time I am in Stornoway I will definitely be staying with Donald and Margaret. Thank you so much for a lovely stay. 

This is a small and pleasant B&B tucked into Stornoway not far from its downtown.  I will always remember and be thankful that, when asked where a laundry might be for some trip-weary clothes, Donald volunteered that they would take care of it for us on premises.  That kind of service may not always be available at Ramadale, but it was the only time it was available anywhere else on our 3-1/2 week trip.  When he found we had to leave early on our last day for the ferry back to the mainland, he left a very nice "sack breakfast" for us, which coupled with some coffee brewed in our room, made for a great start for an early day.  What others say good about hospitality and food we happily second.

Donald and Margaret give an extra dimension to the word  "hospitality". They were friendly, knowledgeable and generous and went out of their way to be helpful. I spent a very enjoyable 4 days at Ramadale in May. The house is pleasant and comfortable, in a very quiet street 5 minutes' walk from shops and restaurants. The log fire in the lounge was much appreciated and the bedroom was warm and comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. I hope  to return and recommend Ramadale unreservedly.

An excellent guest house, around 5-10 minutes walk into town, the bus station and the ferry terminal.  Donald and Margaret look after their guests perfectly. Donald was very welcoming, and his knowledge of the Isles of Lewis and Harris made for very interesting listening.  The breakfast, especially the Garrabost bacon, was excellent and the freshly baked Victoria Sponge and Tea Loaf provided for supper were most enjoyable and very more-ish!  

Our room was very clean and comfortable and I would definitely recommend a stay at Ramadale if you are visiting fabulous Stornoway.
