Elisha couldn't have been any more friendly, welcoming and helpful. She even ironed my husband's shirt. The bed was really comfy. You have a sitting room with a real fire for relaxing in. The breakfast was enormous and delicious. It's a quick drive to a free car park in Derry

I booked Redgate House at the last minute, as I was flying over to Derry from England to attend a unexpected funeral.

On arrival, Eilish gave me such a warm, friendly welcome, helping me understand how I could get around Derry, to visit the people I needed to see and the church for the funeral.

Eilish also gave me helpful directions to find somewhere good to eat. 

She also ironed my shirt, doing such a superb job, that I thought it was a brand new one!

I said I wouldn't have breakfast the following day, as I needed to leave very early, however, Eilish got up well before a reasonable breakfast time and made me some lovely food.

Redgate House is a lovely house, in a quiet location on the outskirts of Derry. My room was lovely - but the best thing was the superb hospitality shown to me by Eilish - she was amazing.

If you arrive or planning a trip then this is the only place you want too stay.you are met by eilish the most friendly and warm welcoming lady who runs this place nothing is too much trouble for her the rooms are amazing and comfy amazing showers then when you wake the breakfast is brilliant I have stayed in lots of places and this is my favourite place ...a hidden gem in derry look forward too seeing you soon eilish thank you ....Neil and.harry scooter boys 

Five star accommodation and five star host. Beautifully furnished large house with great views of the city. Only a short taxi ride to the city centre. Highly recommended when staying in Derry. 
Eilish a very attentive host with a warm welcome and I would definitely go back.

My guide, John, and I stayed a couple of nights at Redgate perched above the River Foyle west bank, and found it very pleasant.  We particularly enjoyed the sweeping views across to hills and countryside.  Eilish, the hostess, is local (from Donegal), sociable, and will provide any needed information.  Also, at our request she prepared special low calorie breakfasts which were delicious and satisfying.  Redgate is a nice choice, much better than a standard hotel.

We stayed in redgate over the weekend. We had a brilliant time. The house is beautiful and Eilish really made the whole experience. She went above and beyond throughout the stay, met us late that night with our room key as we were running late and provided a lovely home cooked breakfast the next morning. The rooms were lovely with a large walk in shower and the entire house is very nicely decorated. Overall we had a lovely weekend we felt very welcomed from the minute we met and the whole experience was so relaxing.  Thanks again Imelda and Tom.

Stayed at Redgate House with 3 friends for a Christmas night away in December. Eilish welcomed us into her beautiful home with a big smile, coffee and home made biscuits. It was so warm and cosy in the sitting room we didn't want to move to get ready for our night out on the town. Our rooms were beautiful with a big walk in shower and the most comfortable beds. The whole house is just gorgeous, adorned with many photos of Eilish's beloved family and even a glass feature with all her children's names and handprints. It was December so the house had many Christmas trees decorated and despite its size it was very homely. The breakfast spread that greeted us the next morning was out of this world! Eilish had laid the table with dishes of fresh fruit, orange juice, muesli, yoghurt and a selection of croissants, scones and pastries. Then she made us a cooked breakfast! It was all delicious and washed down with as much tea and coffee you like.
Eilish is the perfect hostess and it's clear that she just loves having guests. She was so warm and friendly, we were all bowled over by her. 
We would all stay with Eilish again in a heartbeat. We didn't want to leave. Maybe a summer night next time to get to appreciate the beautiful scenery and views.

We stayed in Redgate house for one night on 29th Oct ‘22. The lady of the house Eilish  gave us a very warm welcome , the house is beautiful, our room was lovely , nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed , beautiful en suite shower room with great  walk in shower. 
Breakfast was served in the resident’s living come dining room , lovely fresh fruit bowls, yogurt, cereal’s , brown bread  and warm pastries all set out on the dining table. 
Eilish took breakfast orders I had the best poached eggs , just perfect , my husband had an Ulster fry.  We were very happy with everything and will definitely stay with Eilish again.

Redgate is a stunning property and Eilish is one of the warmest and most welcoming hostesses we met; very charming, yet not at all intrusive. This is our second time staying at Redgate and our room ensuite is just as stylish and  tastefully  decorated as the one we stayed in the first time, as well as very clean. Breakfast was so enjoyable we didn’t realize we had spent half our morning lazing at the table in the magnificent dining lounge room and eventually  copping on that we had a million things to do downtown! We highly recommend this place and will not hesitate to visit it again!

I stayed with a friend in a comfortable and stylish room. The owner, Eilish, really went above and beyond to ensure we had a good holiday. She was accommodating with our check in and check out time, personally cooked us breakfast when we woke up the next morning, and even drove us into town herself. Unbeatable Derry hospitality! Our sincerest thanks to Eilish for a wonderful weekend!

Well where do you start with a review of Redgate House? This was honestly the best bed and breakfast experience we have ever had. From the booking and communication from Eilish the owner we looked forward to our stay. 

We arrived on a cold breezy day but as soon as the front door was opened and we got such a worm greeting we immediately cheered up. Offered tea or coffee on arrival in front of the cosy stove and even though the house is huge we felt at home right away. Our room was great, very comfortable bed and towels, shower gels, shampoos supplied. When we arrived back after a night in Derry we relaxed in the lounge in front of the huge tv.

Breakfast was beautiful, every bit as good if not better than some hotels we have stayed in and all freshly cooked to order.
Don’t hesitate booking to stay with Eilish..the only thing I didn’t like was having to leave! Wonderful!

Outstanding B&B!

TLDR: STAY HERE. The owner, the house, and the breakfast are magnificent. 

When we chose to stay at the Redgate House B&B it was because we had no other place to go. We had a beautiful but horrific day with screaming children at Giant’s Causeway (man, it can get windy,) and our previous plans had fallen through because half our party got COVID. We were stranded. Last minute we booked Redgate and I noticed that we were 7 minutes away from last check-in with an hour drive ahead of us. I called the owner and immediately she said, “Hi! Not a problem. I’ll be here!” in a lovely, cheery, welcoming voice. Phew. 

We get there. It’s raining heavily. It’s Ireland, so to be expected. But with a two-year-old and a 4-month-old sleeping in the backseat the last thing we wanted to do was wake them up by standing out in the rain waiting to be let in the house. To our relief and surprise, the owner, Eilish, opened the door before we even approached and beckoned us inside. She saw our children and squealed saying that she hasn’t had children in the house since COVID and she’s so happy to have us here. It was the welcome we needed. She scooped up our two-year-old, and for some reason, we just let surrogate Grandma Eilish take over. She was our shelter in a storm. 

I thought I broke my foot, so could hardly walk. She turned on Netflix on the massive TV in the sitting room, sat me and my daughter down on the comfy couch, had me elevate my foot and gave me ice and Ibuprofen. She set up dishes and condiments for our dinner while my husband was out catching our fish supper at the local chippy that she recommended (Bridie’s - top notch), and I finally felt like we had some peace after many rough days. 

The room was cozy and had enough space for our two kids (she provided a camping cot for the toddler). The only complaint I would have is the motion sensor in the bathroom, which means that when you use the toilet during the night the main bathroom light comes on and threatens to wake everyone up. The shower is huge and the hot water is endless. 

The breakfast. You guys, the breakfast. Full of gorgeous local pastries and yogurt, yummy coffee, tea, and juice. The muffins from Donegal were sensational. Super nice and all you really need. But then Eilish asks if you’d also like cooked breakfast. A full fry-up is available, but I just asked for eggs, tomatoes, and sausages. THE MOST DELICIOUS SAUSAGES EVER. Perfectly cooked eggs. Perfect. Best of all, excellent chat. Eilish is so kind, very funny, and like the mother you may have never had, or maybe you did and you just get to have another one. My daughter woke up after our first night there (yes, we extended another night. Who wouldn’t?) and she screamed with delight when hugging Eilish, “Good morning!” By the end of our two-day stay we felt like we had a new family member. 

And the house? Look at that picture. It’s as grand inside as it looks outside. It feels historic. Apparently it’s their family home they built in the 90’s. 

Do yourself a favor: skip the hotel and really enjoy your stay in Derry with pure Irish hospitality. Stay at the Redgate House B&B.
