The Oakeley Arms Hotel

I arrived early but was able to access my room straight away. I was initially told that my room still had to be paid for but I had prepaid. This was resolved quickly however. The hotel is conveniently located on a regular bus route and I took the opportunity to visit Blaenau Ffestiniog 20 minutes away. The evening meal was excellent with plenty of choice on the menu. My room was fine and extremely comfortable. Some slight traffic noise as it was at the front of the property.

Lovely room, comfortable beds, a great hotel!

I'd happily return to this hotel. I enjoyed two nights dinner but would have liked to see plain yoghurt, smoked salmon and smoked haddock on the breakfast menu. Thank goodness the extractor fans turned off at night.

No criticisms at all, everything went well, good dinner and breakfast, room as you would want it, quiet at night. All staff very pleasant and personable. Thank you for a nice stay.

Nice big room with everything you couldneed, very quite room bcs was welsh music festival behind the hotel and music was playing loud but inside room was nice and quite, highly recomend this hotel

Beautiful well maintained old building in a great location. The owners and staff were all super helpful and friendly. Food was very good, everywhere was lovely and clean and the room was very comfortable with everything I needed. 😊
My friend and I only booked for 1 night but begged to stay another night for their Oakeley Fest and they squeezed us in 🤩
We will definitely be going back there again next year.

Excellent place to stay

Best carvery we have ever had! We often travel 2 hours to haven site in Porthmadog and have started stopping her for Sunday lunch on the way home because its sooooo good. We will keep coming back. The staff are lovely and the chef carving the meat has a great sense of humour too. All the food is beautiful and today the lamb was exceptional

I've stayed at the hotel previously, it's ideally situated and the staff are very accommodating.  The room is comfortable and I would stay again.  The only negative point was breakfast, this was the first time I'd had breakfast here and the service was very slow.  I arrived at the restaurant at 8:35am, at 9:27am I was still waiting for my food.  This was not ideal, given I was meant to leave at 9:30am.  If breakfast starts at 8:30am, then all food should be ready to serve from that time.

Good hotel in an easily accessible location

Second time here and came back bcs really loved ot only thing is that now we came back just 2 of us and booked double room, everything is amazing exept bed…. first time we was in family room where all 3 beds was really comfy, when you decorate room so perfect and all looks so wonderfull invest a little bit money into bed as well…. the rest amazing like first time :)

I dont stay in hotels often but enjoyed my short stay. Food was excellent. Room was great for 1 person. Everything had been thought of and supplied in the room from drinks, tea, coffee, water etc to all manner of bathroom supplies Very impressed. I never sleep well away from home but rested pretty well. No noise at all from the large pub area below, very peaceful. Would definitely stay again

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for two nights and it was a gorgeous room. Really cosy and a big bed with comfy bedding. The restaurant downstairs was homely and all the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The view from the room was stunning and the road outside is quiet. Would love to stay here again!

A lovely stay over the bank holiday weekend

Myself and husband stayed here whilst away celebrating our wedding anniversary. We visited Portmerion nearby and this hotel was situated not far from there. Staff were very friendly throughout our stay. On our arrival they showed us to our room. The room was huge,as was the en-suite. The room was very clean had all we needed for our stay. We chose to dine at the hotel and we were not disappointed! We both had steak for main and agreed it was possibly the best steak we had ever eaten and was it cooked to perfection. Breakfast in the morning did not disappoint either. Located in Snowdonia the surrounding scenery was just stunning. I would happily return to the hotel and would recommend as a place to stay for friends and family visiting the area. Thank you for a truly lovely stay.

A super overnight stay at Oakeley Arms. The staff were friendly and engaging. The food was plentiful and nourishing for a chap who'd walked 15 miles over the mountains get there. The room was closer to the main road, quiet in the evening but did get a little noisier from 6. Breakfast was excellent too. Great to hear so much Welsh in the bar. Diolch yn Fawr iawn!

Cambrian Way resting place.

I stayed here from October 2nd for 4 nights with a colleague Mountain Leader as together we were guiding a group of women participants in the adjacent mountains.

We’d booked a small self-catering cottage but were very pleased to be upgraded to the much larger cottage: MOELWYN.

MOELWYN allowed us to each enjoy a king size room which were comfortable and well appointed. Additionally there was a twin room which we didn’t use.

The kitchen/diner was spacious and well equipped but several lights were missing. These were renewed by the handyman. There was also a very large tv beyond the dining table.

A very large lounge was also comfortable and well equipped, again with a very large tv over the fireplace.

None of the three bedrooms were en-suite and downstairs was a combined toilet/shower unit with a heated towel rail and large sink. The shower valve was difficult to shut off.

The kitchen cupboards lacked left behind items such as spices, oil etc which are normally found in such properties.

Recycling seemed to be non-existent so we brought everything home which was unsatisfactory in my opinion.

Fabulous accommodation so I can highly recommend this cottage.
