Spindle Lodge

Spindle Lodge came to my attention due to it's location - and a reasonable price, we recomend full B & B, it's a great breakfast to start the day with juices, yoghurt and cereal, hot food tasty and cooked to order. Don't be alarmed on arrival as the outside badly needs updating at this time and is tatty. On site parking when available is a great plus. The inside is of Victorian appearence but don't panic this is as a result of deliberate and careful preservation of many original features by the current owners. We stayed in (family) room 5. This room, as with the dining room is to the rear and peaceful and pleasant. During breakfast we watched the birds bathing in dew on the thick shrubs outside the window. Spindle Lodge is a relaxed atmosphere 'deep down' clean and tidy and everything worked - in these respects this team is way ahead of the chains of budget hotels. There is a lot to see and do within easy walking distance. Welford Road 'Tigers' Stadium is 10 mins away, as is the town centre. King Power Stadium no more than 20 mins easy walk. Leicester still enjoys the old style well maintained municipal parks, museums etc - unlike the area we live in that has been devastated by austerity. Thank you Melba for looking after us so well during the owners own break away. We are delighted to recomend this establishment as a home from home for short - or longer visits. We will stay again.
