We have just returned home from an amazing stay in the Melville Retreat.

The accommodation exceeded our expectations. A massive single storey, 3 bedroom property with a lovely roll top bath and giant hot tub. Very clean and everything you could need, washing machine, dish washer and loads of kitchen utensils.

The enclosed private garden was great for our 2 little ones to explore and stay safe. The play area was also great for the kids with the grounds well maintained and clean.

A massive shout out must go to the staff. Very friendly and always made time for everyone. The whisky cask cider in the shop is amazing.

We are already planning our next trip back as so much to do in the surrounding areas that we didn't get the chance to do. Thank you

Fantastic site - great facilities.

Stayed on a solo octo cabin and loved it… easy access to Edinburgh by train or bus.  Nicest shower block I’ve seen in the UK! Short walk to the sea.

Clean , tidy, very organised , spacious plots … we were with a caravan and awning . The shower block even in the height of summer was always clean and had a great hot water supply . All staff very helpful and friendly , without doubt the best campsite we have visited . Immediate area is great for walking along the coast and fantastic rail and bus routes within walking distance .

OMG – What a wonderful site!!  The site was so easy to find site as it is very close to the A1. The check in procedure went smoothly and we even received a courtesy telephone call, from the customer care team, shortly before arriving. We were escorted to our assigned plot by a member of staff which avoided us trailing round the site and avoiding the usual arguments about which way to go!  The staff were friendly and informative. The receptionists Googled a vegetarian restaurant in Edinburgh for us (David Banns, on St Mary's St, just off the Royal Mile – fabulous and well worth a visit) and gave us good travel advise. The site is close to local towns and only 8 miles from Edinburgh. There is a Park and Ride just a few minutes’ drive, away with a train station and buses, into Edinburgh, every 10 minutes. THE SAME BUSES CAN ALSO BE ACCESSED ONLY A 5 MINUTE WALK FROM THE SITE SO AVOIDING A DRIVE – WIN, WIN!  The buses ran all night changing to every 30mins after midnight. The site was exceptionally clean.  There are great, modern toilet and shower blocks which again were kept immaculate. There is also a laundrette which I didn’t use but it looked, once again, immaculate. A well maintained children’s play area is in the centre of the site. We were camping and the tent pitch was in a tree enclosed area holding about 4-6 tents with lots of space between. The absolutely, only, downside was that this pitch area did not have it’s own lighting. OK when you are going to the toilet block in the night, as the lights from the camper van area are visible. but coming back, with the site lights behind you, you might need a torch - but then I'm a bit of a scaredy cat. The camper/caravan pitches were on gravel pitches with lots of room between spaces.  They also have a village of fairy tale style Glamping Pods for hire. We booked months in advance and when we arrived the site was fully booked so booking, in plenty of time, might be an idea. We will definitely use this site again when in the area.  We might even try the Glamping Pods if the weather is inclement.

Good site, convenient location to get to Edinburgh. Clean facilities. It has a small.kitchen with fridge and microwave.

We stayed two nights in the glamping bothy with toilet. Absolutely no complaints, bothy, amenities and camp site were all in immaculate condition.

An another brilliant experience at Drummohr again this year. Ive not stayed in all their accommodation over the last 3 years, and its all comfortable, clean and in a lovely environment. Treated myself to a lodge with hot tub for part of my stay which was amazing. The ease of getting to Edinburgh by train or bus and lovely walks direct from the campsite are also a big win.

Really great facilities at a really affordable price - I stayed in a solo glamping pod.
Edinburgh is an hour away on the bus and 45 mins by train (inc. 20 min walk), so it was perfect for my little trip to see the Ed Fringe & AC/DC at Murrayfield. Thanks guys!

Such a nice campsite. We stayed in one of the lodges we had everything we needed. Most importantly the staff were so lovely and friendly they really went out of the way to make our stay special.

Friendly reception on arrival and shown around, beautiful grounds. Really enjoyed the stay. Showers and bathroom were clean and not overly busy so no queuing. Camped in a tent which was a private area with plenty of space so not over crowded.

OMG - a site really worth visiting!

A brilliant place to stay.

We have been coming to Drummohr for almost twenty years now and just back from a really lovely four night stay in a hexilodge. From the point of booking the staff went above and beyond for us. We seem to get to stay in the same hexilodge all the time which is great, No 2 is decorated with a VW camper feel and is so cosy and comfortable. The site was full, but you would never know as it is so quiet. We had a slight issue with the smoke alarm in our pod and it was sorted within  minutes of being reported. 

The site was spotlessly clean with every amenity you could need and more.  Already looking forward to our next stay. xx Thank you.

We rate the facilities and the location of Drummohr Campsite highly. Facilities were well maintained  and the provision of a gas bbq and a fire pit added to our stay. The access to regular buses into Edinburgh ( including night buses) enabled us to take full advantage of the Fringe - brilliant. Angie was particularly helpful and friendly when adding additional family members to our booking and we are really grateful for her flexiblity - she went out of her way to provide us with all the information I requested. Only negative was that a couple of the other site staff were less friendly which seems a shame when people are on holiday- it is the only reason I haven't given 5* .

Great access to Edinburgh

First time in a camping pod there and it was very good - comes complete with fridge, toaster, kettle and ample room on the veranda and in front for cooking breakfast.

I was there during a bit of windy weather, which proved a good choice and it's conveniently located for travel into Edinburgh.

Personal bonus for me was the close proximity to the Prestongrange mining museum.

Octopods are Highly Recommended

Spent three days there. Plenty of space (both pitches and site in general), quiet, very clean, friendly people at the reception and to help you around. It takes a bit less than an hour by bus (line 26) to Princess St, Edinburgh, which leaves you plenty of time to talk to local people (especially on the way back in the middle of the night).

Nice place to stay

Having tried the sister sites, this was the last to try out of the 3 this year. Safe to say it delivered the same high standards as the others did . On first arrival thought it was going to be very strict to the rules . The balance was just right .Great blue print for the  small detail.Pitch size ample  of space didn't feel enclosed  crowded.Again vending machine indoor kitchen usefully not disturbing still sleeping family members.Very clean well thought out site.  Liked the layout central well equipped play park .With pitches spoked out from easy access from all pitches.  Facilities high standard powerful showers plenty  of hot water family room bath.Location great access  to cheap public transport. Bus into Edinburgh 5mins walk,  very cheap  or slightly futher walk for the train. Plenty of attractions around great base . Friendly helpful staff . Will definitely use again.

Very relaxed stay

A beautifully maintained site, with good sized pitches. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. It is two stops on the train into Edinburgh, just a 20 minute walk to the station. A good base to visit lots of places.  Toilets, showers, laundry very clean and pleasant.Lovely little dog walk onsite and proper dog washing facilities. We would definitely return again .
