We had a really nice room up on the top floor which was homely & spacious. The staff were really friendly & helpful & the food was lovely. Will definitely stay there again.

Fantastic room with loads of space, nice wee touches with sweeties and coke in the fridge.Very friendly staff and a brilliant breakfast.

Huge free breakfast; excellent hotel and restaurant management and staff.  Amenities in the room included an assortment of biscuits! Very pleasant stay.  I highly recommend this hotel

Very comfortable, large and warm room with a small fridge with fresh milk. Nice bed, big shower room, on top floor away from noisy bar.

This was a halfway stop for us on the way to Aberdeen.  We were going to use a motorway motel but its always better to put money into a local community.   The Balmoral was a friendly place with good food and wine.  The decor is a bit outdated but that doesn't matter as the place is spotlessly clean.  Moffat is a charming place. A hidden gem a couple of minutes off the motorway. Would definitely stay again.

Halfway stop

Returning from a trip further north I wanted somewhere to break my journey for just one night. The Balmoral met the bill well. Parking in the square in front of the hotel; a cheerful bar full of locals; good pub grub and a comfortable bed for the night. Thankfully no thick duvets (far too hot in August!) so got a good night’s sleep. No frills but met the bill for my requirements.

We booked a cottage on the property, it was like a small house. For the price i thought we had been given the wrong place. It was super clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast was one of the best i have ever had. The hotel is situated in the centre of the village with gift shops resturants within feet of the hotel. I would highly recommend this place.

The hotel was lovely central to every where although we did eventually get parked parking was busy as it was Saturday so we had to wait around for someone to move. The rooms were set over a number of floors so we had 4 flights to get to our room and as my husband has bad knees he found this a chore, but as only 2 nights we coped any longer would have been a problem. The photo on the advertisement isn’t the front of the hotel but what we think are little rooms out the back. If we came again would ask for a lower ground floor room as the lower the number the highter you are. The breakfast was very nice and plenty of choice and staff very accommodating and pleasant. The bar is lively and always seemed busy.

Old refurbished coaching inn.Comfortable abd large size room as well bathroom.  Like the fridge in room with milk , complimentary coke and water. Also the large tray of sweets left.  Usually pub food and good selection.No parking need to park in market place if can find a place which is free or elsewhere can find.

Good sized single room. Centrally located hotel with various goods and services within walking distance. A choice of alternative places to eat close by. Friendly helpful staff. Breakfast menu offered several choices of well-cooked and nicely presented food. Popular eating place offering good quality 'pub grub.'

Good choice for a short stay

Absolutely Stunning.
Part of a 4 day tour round Southern Scotland and would definitely return.
Staff are very attentive but not too much. We stayed I  the cottages and they were basic but clean and the water and chocolates a liovely touch. 
We booked a table for tea and the only down side to the whole stay was the table we were given was in the bar area by the door. Would have preferred to be in the eating area,BUT the food was delicious, plentiful  and very reasonably priced.  Breakfast was served quickly and was once again delicious. We will definitely be back.

Short tour round Southern Scotland.

A 2 bed flat behind the hotel itself was fantastic. Not suitable for those with mobility issues as bedrooms and toilet upstairs. I was surprised by the space kitchen/living area with complimentary chocolates, water and coke ( I’ve never had this much in 5* hotels). I will definitely return here when next in this area. Breakfast was delicious with friendly and approachable staff.

I stayed in the old stables which is a 2 bed flat with kitchen/living area (massive). Upstairs is 2 bedrooms with shower / toilet. I was well impressed with my booking. Complimentary chocolates, water and coke added that extra special touch. Breakfast was delicious with attentive friendly staff. Excellent location and will definitely return when down in Moffat again.

Gem of a find.

Stayed in the Old Stables cottage, very spacious.
Really good location, lovely, friendly staff, great atmosphere.
The food was really good, the breakfast each morning was lovely; on the Friday my husband had the Fillet Steak and I had the Beef and Guiness pie, both really tasty.
Live band on Saturday afternoon.
All in all, a great place to stay.
