Lovely place to stay and visit Vindolanda and Hadrians wall. Thai food and breakfast were faultless, nicely decorated rooms and comfy beds. The staff were really friendly with a fantastic sense of humour. Can't wait to come again! Thank you

Lovely Hotel, surrounding area beautiful too. Close to Gateshead & A69, but so peaceful. Rooms are lovely, and food and service to match , will return for sure.

We had a lovely time here. We were driven to the starting point of the walk by Catherine, who was fab. Food was delicious, and the room was very cosy and clean.

Our room was excellent. Extremely comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was amazing!

We only stayed one night but thought it was great value. The bedrooms were large and spacious with everything you could want.  And what can I say about the food - the portions were very generous and great value as well.  Hope to be back to explore more of that part of Northumberland.

Pleasant friendly staff lovely room great food!

Loved this place! The staff were so pleasant and helpful. The room was lovely, with all of the extras you might need waiting there for you. The pub downstairs had great food and drinks.

First time in this part of the country visiting Vindolanda and the Roman Army museum nearby, staying at the Bowes Hotel was everything we wanted spotless room and pub all the amenities you need, fantastic quality food (especially the Thai curry) well cooked and great prices. Staff genuinely friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble. Local people very friendly as well. Will stay again next time we visit the area.

Bowes is perfect for visiting Hadrian’s Wall and the many forts and museums around.The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate both nights at the Bowes and the food on both nights was very good. The Thai food was delicious and you could tell it was all freshly prepared and cooked.The bed was comfortable and ideal for us after long walks. We would have no hesitation in staying again.

Great stay /great pub

Superb relaxing stay at the Bowes Hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay.The food was excellent, all home made and plenty of choice on offer.They also cater for vegetarians and vegans which made my day!All the Thai dishes on the menu are authentic and very good.The Thai mains can be made vegan or vegetarian with tofu or quorn.The breakfast was also brilliant with plenty of choice for all dietary requirements. They cooked me a full vegan breakfast and supplied me with oat milk for my coffee and cereal and vegan spread for my toast. They certainly made a real effort to accommodate my dietary needs. The hotel is spotless and the bedrooms are finished to a very high standard.The bed and pillows are very comfortable and the shower nice and powerful. The train station is a stone throw away and the location is perfect for exploring Northumberland. I will definitely return to this hotel and would highly recommend it to my family and friends. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

We stayed for one night on a trip walking Hadrian's wall. Excellent experience all round. Lovely room, very comfortable, everything you need, nice decor, good bathroom.  Breakfast was excellent, the best we had of the several places we stayed on our trip. Staff lovely and a pleasant local feel. Highly recommend.

Excellent place to stay

I was looking for a hotel near Hexham and saw the excellent reviews on the Bowes Hotel.
It did not disappoint the room, we had the Pottery room, was beautiful everything done to a very high standard. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was great.
All of the staff were extremely friendly.
We ate there on the evening and the food was really nice and reasonably priced. 
All in all a lovely place to stay, not far off the A69 and very easy to find.
Highly recommended.

Overnight stay

The Bowes Hotel is a lovely hotel and pub in a small village near Hadrian's Wall. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean, fresh, and renovated within last 5 years. My friend stated if she could pack the bathroom in her suitcase and take it home  she would! And, we had a lovely  view of their garden. Would definitely stay there again.

The pub was great, cosy and food was fantastic as well as being reasonably priced. The staff are polite and very welcoming and provided lots of help throughout our stay. The room was very clean and tidy and comfortable. We will definitely be staying again and recommend this hotel to anyone. We are not dog owners but its extremely dog friendly.

Perfect little getaway

From start to finish the customer service was fantastic , and will highly recommend the food it’s amazing , unfortunately we couldn’t sample the breakfast as we was leaving early in the morning , however they knocked us up a takeaway lunch ( Spot on too👍) If I was in the area again I will be looking to stay there again .

Great place and fantastic customer service

Fantastic two day stay here. Couldn't fault it. Fab & friendly sraff. The food was excellent. My partner and I both agreed that the full English breakfast on a very cold winters day in front of the roaring fire was really first class - possibly the best breakfast ever! Room was lovely, very comfortable. Beautiful little village. Well worth a visit!

Amazing Breakfast 👏

Beautifully refurbished hotel run by a lovely family in a pretty village. Nicest place we stayed in along The Wall. Food was excellent, we went with the Thai dishes for our evening meal but if we lived locally we would simply work our way through the menu. Very friendly barman and waiting staff, hotel pub had a lovely atmosphere and local clientele were also friendly. Can't recommend it highly enough. Only issue is I now want to get new bed linen and a new bed when I get home, plus get better at cooking!
