Ann Tysons House

This is a fantastic little place right in the centre of beautiful Hawkshead. Rosemary is a sweetheart and gave us a free pass for Brantwood House, the home of John Ruskin which we really enjoyed on a very rainy afternoon. The room we stayed in belonged to her son and is a little further down from the main b&b. The room was warm and cosy with cottage style beams and the bed is enormous and super comfy. We both also enjoyed a soak in the quirky Japanese tub and delighted at being woken up with birdsong in the morning, what a wonderful alarm clock! I would say the addition of a hair dryer in the room would be handy but otherwise we couldn't fault this place! Would definitely return. Also if you're looking for fantastic gastro pub food in the village pop over to the Queens Head you won't be disappointed, it's pricey but worth it and the staff are all lovely( I highly recommend the venison!) The Kings Arms is cheaper and does good honest pub grub with hearty portions. Hawkshead is a great little village full of charm, plenty of shops and is quite central for exploring the Lakes. A perfect winter break.
