I stayed for four nights over Xmas and New Year with a friend. I had stayed here several times before but the service on this occasion fell below standard. To start with the positives - impeccably clean as always, great little spa and good breakfast. All of those reasons I will probably stay again. The negatives that really have me questioning that - the service. Before I arrived I had sent an email requesting half board for 2 nights. I got a reply to state that a table had been reserved. When I arrived to dinner I was told that was wrong and I had to pay (a much higher) full price for the dinner as the receptionist made a mistake and I had to have half board for the full 4 nights (which I couldn’t as I had plans for New Year’s Eve). As a result I was made to pay Swiss restaurant prices for a half board price quality meal that was absolutely not worth Swiss restaurants prices while the other guests ate exactly the same meal for the half board price. No attempt whatsoever to resolve the issue - really not ok and unfair. The spa facilities are great - the behaviour of some of the very young children in them (screaming, clambering over people, wearing nappies in the jacuzzi) certainly is not. Given this is a former physiotherapy hotel they really ought to have a minimum age limit - at least 10 or 12 as it frankly just ruins everyone’s enjoyment. Hopefully they can resolve these issues in future.
