My wife myself and one other couple stayed in melford heaven in july 2015 where we got the upper floor with a good and excellent view of the lake and mountains arround which was very pleasant the room was really big and comfortable with large beds and mini bar which was really helpful and the garden out side was well maintained we enjoyed a B.B.Q night.The staffs and the manager was so kind and helpful to us in any request it was a wonderful stay really a home away home.The restaurant was arranged with lots of candle lights for our dinner really we felt that we were in heaven thats the specialty of melfordheaven dinner was awesome do not  miss it for ever.

A WARM STAY IN COOL CLIMATE

This hotel also goes under the name of 'Melford Heaven', which is ironical as it is far from heavenly. If you look at the websites for Melford Heaven or for The Gregory House, you will get an impression of luxury, good service etc. However, this is not the case. The rooms are very dated with lots of broken bits of furniture (including broken bits of glass, which is not great when travelling with kids). It is Fawlty Towers-esque: it was chilly, so we were provided with a heater but it did not work, the Wifi worked for perhaps 2 minutes of our 2 night stay, the staff's English seemed unreliable as they didn't seem to understand our queries, the shower screen did not close due to a misplaced screw, there was a plug socket in the shower, which was odd/potentially dangerous. We stayed in a room at the top of the house and we could clearly hear that pigeons were walking on the false ceiling (under the roof) and as a tile of this false ceiling was missing in the shower room, there was the odd pigeon feather in the shower room. We ate dinner there the first evening, but avoided eating there afterwards: the food was extremely average (the worst we had in Sri Lanka), the service was painfully slow although there were only two tables and we had pre-ordered our meal over an hour before sitting down. They recommended we ordered a side of rice so we did, but then it turned out that all the dishes came with rice or fries already, so it was wasted. Breakfast was the most basic of any hotel we stayed at but it took them over 45 minutes to bring it all - we had left the table before the end. I could go on. All in all, a very disappointing stay. Avoid if you can.

Poor stay at this hotel

After a great day, a nice and clean hotel is what one needs. So disappointed to find more flies in the hotelroom then at the local fishmarket. They came along with the terrible smell of mold from the bathroom. The carpet was very sticky so shoes were on until we went to bed. This room didn't see any cleaning or fresh air in a long time. Diner was cold and nothing special at all, though breakast was compared to the rest o.k.  Location is near the lake but on a hill, where you can hear a waterfall all night.
Unless you have no other option pass this hotel and book something else !! this is a disgrace for the other fine hotels in Sri Lanka

the worst hotel ever

Don't book this hotel unless there's no other one availible in the area. 

If the tens of flighs in your room won't put you off, the terrible smell (and sight) of fungus in the bathroom will! The dinner is the worst we've had in Sri Lanka, althought the breakfast was similair as in other hotels. 

This hotel is also known as the Melford Heaven Hotel. Don't be fooled by there pretty website.

Never again

It was a terrible hotel to stay. The name is "Melford Heavens". its not even a 2 star. There's so much of dampness in the room and the flooring is dirty the washroom is tacky with no warm water. Would recommend not to stay unless and until all the hotels of Nuwara Eliya is full. The only plus point of this hotel was their food. They served fantastic food from dinner to breakfast. The staff was also good but unless and until you dont enjoy your stay whats the use.
