Heidi's Home

Everything you have read about this beautiful and incredibly unique guesthouse is accurate. My wife and I just stayed in the King Room with lake view for our first leg of our Sri Lankan honeymoon. We could not have picked a better place to start. The room was large and well accommodated. The decor was lavish, but gave the room a homey feel which we really enjoyed. The bed was very comfortable.  The location was perfect for us. It was situated on the opposite side of lake Gregory from the main town, which meant it was calm and quiet compared to the chaotic hussle or uber-touristy feel of central Nuwara Eliya. It was a calm and peaceful retreat.  The true gem of the guesthouse is Heidi herself, who went above and beyond to make our experience special. She was always friendly and cheerful.  She made recommendations and bookings for local seeing, including transport. She helped us book a car to take us on the next leg of our journey. After expressing my concerns that eating a Western style breakfast everyday was going to negatively affect my waistline, she made for me a custom, healthy breakfast of local vegetables and rice. One evening she and her niece cooked us a Sri Lankan vegetarian dinner that was nutritious and very tasty.  Staying at Heidi’s home is unique experience and everyone we met staying there seemed to enjoy it as much as we did. If we ever return to Nuwara Eliya, we will definitely stay here again.  Thanks again for everything Heidi!
