Mama Cottage Ella

Unfortunately, we only spent one night in the beautiful accommodation. The house is located in the middle of nature a little above the centre, it is easy to walk there. We have been warmly welcomed with cake and had a spacious, clean room with balcony. We would have liked to stay longer, thank you very much.

Mama(O G Padma Desilva) is the host of the place,a lovely Srilankan woman in her 70s.She has 3 rooms with attached bathrooms and balcony.Everyday she prepared delicious SriLankan home made breakfast for us.She is so caring and attended to all our requests and needs.The cottage is just 10 minutes walk from Ella railway station and very close to Nine Arches bridge.

I stayed at Mama Cottage in Ella for several days. The place is very clean, quiet and charming, and the garden very pleasant. The owner lady, Mama, is very warm, nice and helpful. She made delicious breakfast, helped with the laundry, and made sure I was comfortable in the room. 
I strongly recommend to stay at Mama Cottage.

Stayed for one night, but would have liked to stay for longer. It's a great place, set in a lovely garden and Pathma is a wonderful host, really friendly offering tea and snacks and making a great breakfast. Will stay again next time I am in Ella.

We stayed for two nights at "mama cottage". As there are a lot of places to stay at Ella we looked around for a bit at first. Because of this there is a lot of room for negotiations. We chose for "mama cottage" because of the clean rooms and the nice host. The room, we had the balcony room, was decently sized and had a relatively new bathroom with hot water. Furthermore wifi was available and we didn't have any problems with connecting to it (which we read in reviews before). "Mama", or Pathma which is her real name, is a very lovely woman who cares about her guests. We were welcomed with tea and she prepared lunch for us, at no costs. Pathma doesn't speak English very well, but she tries really hard and likes to talk. The breakfast was very nice too, as it was traditional Sri Lankan with (a lot of) fresh fruit. To conclude, we would definitely recommend "mama cottage" as a place to stay in Ella!

My friend and I stayed 2 nights at Mama's Cottage and had a lovely time! The room was very clean, bed was comfortable and it was in a lovely quiet location just a short 10 min walk from the town centre. The main selling point of the cottage though is Mama herself (note: if she isn't there when you arrive, you can find her in her little house behind the cottage). She really is the sweetest lady who can't do enough for you. The Sri Lankan tea and coconut pancakes were a lovely surprise on arrival, and the breakfasts she made for us were delicious! She also kindly upgraded us to the balcony room free of charge. Although her English isn't perfect, she has a lot of stories to tell and we had no problem with communication. The perfect place to experience the authentic warm Sri Lankan hospitality!

It's a clean and nice room.
Not far from the center (5 min walking) and visiting points ( train, ella rock,...).
Best breakfasts ever in her lovely garden !!
She likes to take care of you and like to talk.

Simplytravelin.com here,   We visited Strilanka in February and stayed in dozens of places including mama's. She was by far the sweetest and kindest host. Good location, Good breakfast, really clean rooms but Wi-Fi can be slow at times.
