Flatsforyou Las Arcadias

You don't check in where you thought you might. The check-in desk is in a bike shop around the corner. If you arrive after 8pm they charge you 30 Euro for late check-in. Our first night, we were quite underwhelmed at the entrance to the apartments. The entrance is uninspiring and as you walk through the corridors the floors are carpeted but filthy. The walls need painted. However once in the room they do appear as described except for the appalling smell in our bathroom. It was like a sewer. It wasn't there at first entering after booking in but it was unmistakable on arriving back later in the evening. It still lingered in the morning. Thankfully it was gone on the second day. Despite there being free WiFi the connection is rubbish. I got less than dialup speed (5.6k for those of you who don't know), the password is on the back of your door. Beds are fairly comfortable, the flat is clean with a fridge, 2 ring hob, sink, kettle and toaster. There is a small balcony outside the window enough to lean out but nothing else. Location is 15min walk from Central Market, 20mins from Place de Riena which is where the tour buses leave from, (and where there is also a Macdonalds with free WiFi - 6Mb), 5-10 minutes from the Metro which is literally at the end of the street and 20 minutes from the main train station. Don't expect any help from the people at the entrance - what you may think is the reception staff, they only work for the people who own the building and mostly don't speak English. The company you rented the apartment from are subletting it from these people and that are not interested in you. On our last day the weather was quite warm and so the air con went on that night, it wasn't long till that sewer smell came back so I don't know if it's coincidence or the air con unit needs cleaned out. On checking out, you have to put your trash in the dumpster outside. On leaving we simply left our key on the table and closed the door behind us.
