Trevelez is a beautiful, rural, sleepy mountain village - more like an alpine or andean town. La Fragua, II and the restaurant seem to be the centre of the middle barrio and all are perfect for where you are. We were walking for four days and the hotel is simple, a welcome fire, ample breakfast and a great restaurant within a few steps. The owner is an accomplished climber and adventurer and the walls are adorned with superb images of expeditions past. Given the nature of our visit it was perfect. Clean, comfortable and quiet. It isn't a luxury hotel but it is warm, has a very accommodating and welcoming family/staff at the helm and very affordable. If you are going to the Sierra Nevada for luxury I fear you are in the wrong - friendly people, good hearty food and wonderful mountains is what it is all about. A perfect combination.
