Hostal San Martin

I’m giving this hostel a 5 because of location, it’s centric so you can get around the city using its metro Callao or Callao and Santo Domingo bus stops from which you can connect pretty much everywhere in the city. It is also easy to get to from the airport using the subway. It’s also very safe, around and within the complex. I was offered an upgrade with the shower in the room for 2 euros more. The toilet was in the hallway. Hot water was great, weather was hot but at night it got cool, there’s a fan in the room but all I did was leave the window open, didn’t need to use the bed sheets. The place and room were clean and in good condition, it’s Madrid , so it’s not going to be perfect. They provided hand soap and a bar soap. Shower in the room with sink (shower was big enough for me - slim to medium size woman) room also had a fridge. WiFi worked great. Customer service was excellent, the lady who checked me in was very friendly, helpful and thorough with the details, hostel had good communication from reservation all the way to check in. The place has an elevator to go up only. They let me store my luggage for 5 days paying 2 euros per day, which I really appreciated. If I have the chance to go back to Madrid I will for sure stay there again.
