Casa Rural Zelaikoa

A beautiful house with tastefully decorated rooms with a big private bathroom. It's stylish in a rural-romantic way, comfortable and well kept in and around. Our room had its own little corridor so it felt like a mini apartment. I like the combination of blue wallpapers and dark wood and I appreciated the detail of having mosquito nets in the windows, it worked well. Wi-fi worked so-so but I got used to it in Spain. Breakfast is in a spacious comedor and there is a nice choice of food. The owner-lady brings you the coffee, tea, toasts and milk personally, very nice. She also has a lot of information about the area and eagerly provides maps and advice on sightseeing (and there is really A LOT to see and to do in the nearby Zumaia, Getaria, Zarautz, or even San Sebastian, a bit further). Finding the place may be a bit of a hassle if you're not looking around well, we were helped by locals who guided us in their cars, but it's not that hard: when driving from Zumaia in the direction of Zestoa you will see a roundabout about 3-4 kms from the centre of Zestoa. On this roundabout take the exit that says 'industrial" and above it you will see a sign for Zelaikoa. Next sign tells you to turn left, then just follow the signs, up the hill. Or just ask the locals for el agroturismo. Once you're there, you will see sheep, a horse and a donkey keeping each other company. Very nice! Getting to Bilbao airport: about 40 mins on a very good highway.
