We had a very pleasant stay at this mountain hotel and were not expecting it. The room and the service can only be rated as excellent, and are beautifully complemented by the surroundings in a valley between mountains. We highly recommend this place to anyone driving across Galicia as we did last month.

We had a pleasant and enjoyable experience at Pazo Freiria. The lovely hotel is in a green valley between hills covered by chesnuts. We were told it used to be a monastery and was originally built in the XII century. The place has been re-conditioned with great taste and  the stone-walled rooms as well as the common areas show a lovely country style. 
The hostess at the reception as well as the rest of the personnel  were of great help providing advice and support in planning our trip, and making our stay a pleasure. Highly recommended.

Pazo a Freiria is a charming little hotel up in the mountains of a Spanish city called Orense. It´s located in a beautiful valley and we were told the place was an old monastery built during the13th century. Now it´s a delightful country hotel with lovely rooms and very pleasant surroundings.
Highly recommended for a peaceful and comfortable stay.

On trip to Santiago da compostela, we encountered this small hotel in the mountains of Galizia. The hotel is small but charming. We were on a business trip and had little time to get to know it, but enjoyed very much our stay there. Our room was large and comfortable, could use WIFI access and were very well treated by the hotel personnel. The surroundings are great too.
I doubt I`ll have the chance to return in the short term as I don´t travel to Spain too often, but wanted to recommend this place to other people on trip around Galizia.

Charming little place!

Great place for business trips

The hotel rooms are beautifully decorated, the gardens nice and the building in keeping with the rustic atmosphere is very well kept.  In such a place you would expect comparable service in line with the level that the hotel building transpires.  You would expect someone at the management level to be there, to attend to the needs of the customers, to welcome them, to offer suggestions in short all the small details that you have come to expect from this type of hotel. It was not the case here.   It looks as if the place has been left in the hands of caretakers and any problems have to be dealt with by phone.  They are nice but it is not enough for that level of hotel.  Something is missing.  Privacy is nice, to feel abandon is not.  Besides we were probably the only customers, so the hotel facilities were not running.  Probably when the hotel is full, when the owner or manager is there and all the facilities are running it might be a nice place to stay.  We had expected to have our meals at their restaurant and that was one of the reasons why we had reserved a hotel out of town.  However, the restaurant was closed and we had to drive to town something we do not like to do.  I would recommend it only if all services are provided because the place is truly beautiful.

If service was as nice as the hotel building is it would be a perfect place to stay
