To paraphrase Rimbaud, Camping O Caurel is in “a green hollow where a stream gurgles”. O Caurel is A beautiful green valley, not far from the camino de Santiago and a couple of miles from Pedrafita do Cebreiro. You access the campsite by a winding road, maybe a bit more difficult for caravans but fine for cars. The campsite has a few bungalows for three or more occupants (with their own kitchenette, shower and toilet) and places to pitch your tent. It has a lovely pool with refreshingly cold water, a play area for children and a restaurant open from 9 am to 9 pm that serves scrumptious eggs and bacon. The staff is really friendly and efficient and the whole campsite feels instantly like home. At night time you can spy on the resident fox coming for his traditional scraps. It is family orientated campsite and there is no noise from 9 pm to 9 am! It is perfect to relax, rest and get back in contact with nature. The surroundings are truly incredible with beautiful walking tracks, a beautiful Celtic stream and a medieval church only 200 meters away.
