Sahara Sunset Club

Excellent We chose to stay at the Sahara Sunset as we’d stayed at the sister property (Royal Oasis) the previous year and had been impressed with both the room and complex so thought we’d give this place a try. It proved to be a great decision! Sahara Sunset is a brilliant, well kept complex with a variety of apartment blocks located around two pools and another block just across a side road from the main complex. We got lucky being allocated a great 1 bedroom apartment in the Sahara Gardens block with sea views overlooking the main pool. Apartment was spacious, modern and clean with a large balcony. Reception staff were friendly and helpful always smiling even when having to put up with my drunken attempts to chat to them in Spanish when returning from a night out! The entertainment team offered a variety of activities for the kids throughout the day which they enjoyed. There’s a table tennis table and 9 hole mini golf (€1 each). We used the main pool whenever the weather was good enough. It’s a good size and never felt crowded. It’s not heated so although it was cold in April you soon got used to it once in! No inflatables or balls allowed in the pool but we didn’t find this a problem. We particularly liked the 30 minute/60 minute sunbed rule. If beds were unattended for 30 minutes then a ‘warning’ notice was placed on the beds. If still unattended after an hour then towels were removed freeing up the beds for other guests. Meant no one really hogged beds and if anyone did then it was good drama for the rest of us watching the towels be removed! I wished other places would do this as it worked well. We mainly used the Kasbah poolside restaurant for coffees in the morning or the occasional afternoon beer/wine. We only ate there once but what we had was nice. Pizza was superb! Location is really good, a minute from the seafront, a couple of minutes walk to Paloma Park, fifteen minute walk up to Bonanza Square, 20 minute walk uphill to Arroyo and a 30 minute stroll to the Marina. The nearest big supermarket (Mercadona) is around a fifteen minute walk away but there’s a small supermarket on site as an alternative. We’ll definitely return and I’d highly recommend to others!
