Conil is getting very popular these days, and hotels are putting their prices up accordingly. However, the lovely folk at Al Andalus don't seem to have to got the memo, and that's very good news indeed. Conil's layout means that almost every structure over two stories has a fair chance of a sea view, and the same is true here. Better yet, there's a fantastic roof terrace where you can dry your towels, have a drink or a coffee (bring your own; there are no on-site facilities) or just gawk at the view. The rooms are modern, with great air con, good showers and – hallelujah – a fridge to keep your drinks cold. The staff are charming and accommodating, and it's got a pretty central light well with plants hanging down. All this for a budget price, and it's a short walk from the centre of town. Forget the overpriced places on the sea front – Al Andalus is the real deal.
