Camping Enmar

We stayed in a Homair caravan at Camping Enmar for a week at the end of June. The private transfer taxi from Girona airport took about 40 minutes. The campsite reception team were very helpful and spoke excellent English. They called the Homair representative who immediately came and drove our luggage to the caravan. The site is very well-kept and we saw the roads in it being cleaned by a street sweeper machine, and each time a tent or camper van left, their pitch was raked before the next arrival. On our last day we used the campsite shower block after being at the pool- it was very clean and about half the showers had been updated to really modern units. The campsite shop has a decent selection and what we weren’t able to buy there, we could easily get at the Carrefour Express which is less than 10 minutes walk away. There are also several pharmacies nearby and we bought paracetamol from one of them. We found the bar and restaurant to be really good value- we ate there twice and had drinks once- it was very affordable and the staff were patient with our limited Spanish! There is also a bar that serves snacks and ice creams at the poolside but we didn’t use it. The play park is right at the back of the site. Our 7 year old enjoyed it and the equipment was in good condition. The beach is great- as other reviewers have mentioned, it has course sand and pebbles, and slopes steeply under the water, but we really enjoyed it. There are lifeguards at a station slightly further along from the steps nearest to Camping Enmar. The Xino-Xano tourist ‘train’ has a stop right outside the campsite and we enjoyed taking a return trip on it one day. It takes about an hour to go around Pineda de Mar and neighbouring Calella and costs €5 each. Some of our family also took the proper train to Barcelona on one day, using a combination train and Barcelona City Tour bus ticket that we had booked in advance on the Renfe website. However it was standing room only all the way to Barcelona, and long queues at the City Tour bus stops, so in hindsight we should just have stayed in Pineda de Mar to enjoy the beach and Camping Enmar pools, and leave city sightseeing for another time of year when the weather was cooler. The campsite was generally completely quiet after 11pm, which was what we wanted, other than 23rd June, when there were fireworks all night to celebrate the festival of Sant Joan (which we had expected), and for some reason on the Thursday night when a neighbouring hotel had loud music until midnight. Overall we were really pleased with Camping Enmar, and would recommend it for a great family holiday.
