this hotel and its owners stay in our memory from 2008 and because if this we will be returning late septemer with our two dogs. cannot wait !!!!!! you could eat off the bathroom floor and the foodis delicious

El Romeral lies in the depths of the countryside some thirty miles from the beautiful historic city of Cuenca. It is a new building, and it has been conceived and executed with charm. The decor is partly rustic, but in the very best sense of the word. The hosts are very warm and look after their guests well. (They provided us with very helpful advice about the locality.) Very good value for money overall.

My fiance and I spent one night at El Romeral during a driving trip through Spain (November 2007). We found El Romeral through Trip Advisor and couldn't believe our luck when we actually arrived at the establishment. Ann and Roland were very friendly, and it made a wonderful change to be able to speak English again!

The room we were given was a dream and the bathroom was the best of all the hotels we stayed in during our Spanish trip.

This hotel is an absolute treat. Be sure to have dinner in the restaurant! We had the duck with orange and honey sauce (delicious!) and the baked alaska. Roland puts his heart and soul into ensuring you not only experience the goumet delights but that the ambieance and presentation perfectly complement the meal. Do yourself a favour and let Roland make you a Kaluha Coffee to end off the meal... you will not regret it!

We unfortunately only stayed one night, and didn't have breakfast (although we are sure that it would have been delicious!). We would really recommend that if possible you make your stay a little longer and use El Romeral as a base to explore some of the beautiful countryside around Cuenca. Cuenca, the town itself, does not require more than 1 day, and the hotel is not more than 25 minutes drive away.

A stylish hotel in a quiet location within striking distance of beautiful tourist sights

Absolutely Perfect... and not only the food!

On our way back to Madrid from Granada we stopped in 'Cuenca' for the night to break up the driving.  To say that we stayed IN Cuenca would be lying.  The town of Cuenca was over 40 minutes away.  
We cannot figure out why anyone would stay here unless it was 3am, you HAPPENED to be on the road that this 'hotel' is on, and you were desperate for a place to stay. 
Sure, the people are nice, but come on, this is an over priced, remotely located motel.  NOT a 3 star hotel.  The food was mediocre at best, and you are basically held hostage to eat there because you are in the middle of no where.
Unless your idea of a 3 star hotel is a middle of the road motel, don't waste a night here.

Why would you stay here????

The room was large but spartan and the tv didn't work. The wi fi was abismal.  The food and drinks are very expensive but not particularly good. The menu vas very limited and didn't reflect the locality. We would definitely won't stay there again.
