Friends Hostel

situated a little north of the city center of Puerto Mogan, Friends hostel is a little piece of paradise. The people are so nice and welcoming, music great and tropical. I made friends immediately as we all cooked dinner in the kitchen building. The next day, we all drove around the island, and hiked around Roque Nublo. I kept seeing my Friends Hostel friends around different hikes and hostels on the rest of the island.

I arrived a day late and my bed was rented out to another, I could not call as I had lost my mobile and as much as there was no-room-at-the-inn, Jasmine who runs the hostel did not send me away but said that she would figure something out for me, and that I could simply relax. A great Host, very friendly and genuine and so cool to chat with and hang-out. 
The location is kind of out-of-the-way but that is why I chose the place, for some quiet. As it turned out, every guest socialised together and had such a great time sharing stories while we sat outdoors in the inner courtyard until the wee hours.
Puerto Mogan is a short bus journey for all amenities and Mogan centre within walking distance although there are 1 or 2 little Taverna's close by for snacks and morning coffee, if you hadn't brought your own - although Jasmine was happy to make me a coffee that belonged to her, as I had yet to shop for food, and so on.
The atmosphere of Friends Hostel was great, location is perfect and I only wished that I had booked to stay longer, although I will definitely return and stay a little longer.
Hire a car and explore the mountains surrounding the hostel and get to know the island of Gran Canaria not seen by the majority of tourists.

If you want to have a more quiet hostel, with nice people and great views, you should go to Friends hostel. The crew is really relaxed, its a nice start for day trips. Dont forget to go to the Fruteria between the hostel and Mogan itself, its worth it!

Without a doubt - the best hostel I have ever stayed at! The most amazing, utterly stress-free atmosphere and with indescribably beautiful views/landscapes around. 

The guy who, I presume, owns the hostel is a great chap who's always ready to help or find a solution to any problem. The hostel is extremely clean, the bathroom is spotless as well. 

The best thing about this particular hostel is the location. It is exactly what I was looking for - away from the touristy resorts and lots of visitors. Friends is located in Los Navarros, surrounded by nice locals so you can feel the vibe of their daily life. It's very easy to get around by buses, just 15 to 20 minutes to get to Puerto de Mogán (the nearest beach). Bus 84 from Puerto de Mogán.

The atmosphere at this hostel simply induces relaxation into you. No musts or unnecessary formalities. You can also take a hostel bike for a ride around the island, which I did and cycled ca 68 km a day. 

The open kitchen is another plus. You have a freedom to buy your own stuff and cook whatever you want, whenever you want. The nearest grocery store is in Mogán, don't confuse it with Puerto de Mogán, (10 min by bike) - there is a Spar supermarket + various (excellent) cafés. DO NOT miss the Las Casillas fruit market, just 5-8 min walk, with delish stuff from the local farmers. make sure you go there as early in the morning as possible.

I stayed here whilst I came to Gran Canaria to discuss a diving course. 
I had booked a twin room as my friend was supposed to come with me but had to drop out last minute so I had the room to myself. The room itself was spacious, even if I was sharing with someone else. The beds were comfortable and there was a lot of wardrobe space for clothes.
The surrounding area is mountains and farmland and is beautiful to walk   along the road. 
The hostel is in between Morgan and Puerto Morgan. Both are about an hours walk away or 15 minute bus journey however buses aren't very frequent. If you can hire a car I'd advise it and parking is available and car hire is cheap. There is a Spar supermarket in both Morgan and Puerto Morgan plus a fruiteria around 25 minutes walk either way. 
The hostel is really pretty and has a lovely feel to it. The guys who live and work there are really nice. It has a nice family feel to it.
Would very much recommend it if you are looking to escape to some peace and quiet away from the tourist areas but it is still easy to get to the tourist areas if you desire
