My husband and I had a weekend away to Magoebaskloof, approximately 50 kilometres to Phalaborwa (Tsar Hotel based), in Limpopo Province . Beautiful hotel as advertised and lovely staff with excellent service. I would rate the hotel 8/10; why? The pool is not as crystal clear clean as it looks,during our visit we find it in unpleasant state whereby we couldn't the estimate the depth of the pool since the water was not clear enough. Their deluxe rooms were well prepared for our stay, but the sunsets, I couldn't wait for it to dawn. We couldn't wait for it because of bloody mosquitoes that straw our blood the whole night. If only from their (Tsar) advertisements, they noticed that the hotel is not Mosquito/ Malaria free, my husband and would have came with mosquito repellents and probably hang net over. 

In spite of everything, I recommend it for people who spend most their lifetime inner the cities.

Mosquito Nightmare

I stayed for 4 nights at Tsar hotel. The reception was warm and I was fooled into tginking my stay will be fantastic.
The room was in great need of renovations. Everything is just old, aircon, tv. No microwave.
The place was spacious though and was perfect for self catering. There is a kitchen with all utensils that one might need.

The breakfast was the biggest disappointment.  No fruit, limited juice and the food was just not enough. Same cereal everyday.

The bar area, reception and lounge are up to date and well taken care of. There is also a small library which I found very interesting

High expectations

This is a small nice cozy hotel, almost like a nature resort with all the trees planted around the compound. The restaurant deck is nice with views overlooking the pool, friendly staff, good service and the premium rooms are comfortable.

Phalaborwa Visit

This place traumatized me and nearly ruined my weekend as their basin broken down and cut my partner finger and their manager called KIM refuse to refund us the money we spend on the docter to put six stitches on her finger.The breakfast service is so poor as you will wait for 30 minutes to get (2 sliced bread,2 eggs and one bacon) i think this hotel grading must be reassessed,the infrastructure not safe to be honest,DSTV aint working properly

Bad service

The rooms needs serious revamp, every thing looks very old, the pools are dirty. Dont be fooled by the website pictures. The old lady by the name of ANNA oh my gosh!!!!! i think she should go on pension no respect for the clients, let alone her language. I would not recommend this place even to my worst enermy

TERRIBLE SERVICE

The room needs some serious revamp its very old, the tv remote did not work, room had no towels, breakfast was the worst we waited 20 minutes just to get a menu, there's only 1 meal on the menu everything else you pay extra for, waited another 25 for the food.
