Fantastic
1370 reviewsThis hotel, as many Venetian hotels seem to be, was built in a an old palazzo and is located on the grand canal. A smaller property, it does not have the lobby of the some of the more famous large hotels (think Aman or St. Regis), but would be considered a boutique hotel. We arrived by water taxi from the train station at the dock and were greeted by the bellman and the hotel manager . We reserved a modestly priced room with Hilton points, but decided to upgrade to a suite with a view of the Grand Canal. This suite has two balconies with canal views, and high ceilings - very elegant. The room included breakfast in the restaurant which was very nice. There is also a nighttime restaurant with a Michelin starred chef. We ate the hotel restaurant because of the lovely water view from the terrazzo tables. My wife was not feeling as adventurous on the menu items and asked for a simple spaghetti with marinara sauce. The chef made a delicious marinara sauce with three different types of tomato. Delicious and made a fan for life! Great lesser known property. To get to St Marks Square, you will need to walk about 1/2 a kilometer to get to a bridge and cross the canal. There are gondoliers right by the hotel that will give a nice city boat tour for roughly €110 if you include a gratuity.
