My wife and I began our time in Venezia by boarding our water taxi at the train station and cruising the delightful 30 minute canal trip to the Ca’ di Dio hotel which would serve as our temporary home for our three days in the city. As we pulled up to the private canal entrance, the magic of Venezia and this outstanding hotel began to shine, shine, shine. The staff started things off at five stars in terms of reception and welcome and those stars twinkled brightly throughout our visit. Our room was magnificent: on the lagoon side of things with excellent views of the waterfront as well as large swaths of Venezia herself. Lavishly appointed and marvelous down to every detail, the Ca’ di Dio was Venetian luxury come to life. The breakfasts were extensive and heavenly. The inner courtyard was a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city outside plus their coffees were all outstanding. Dinith, our bartender friend, served as our erstwhile host and joyful natured vacation buddy throughout our stay. If you are considering a tip to Venezia, then please seriously consider staying at this fine hotel. It is worth every penny!!!

In accordance with the Institutional Regulations and the rules governing the fee for access, with or without a shuttle service, in Venice and the small islands of the Venetian Lagoon, an additional fee is charged to day-trippers who do not stay overnight and plan to visit the historic city centre from Friday to Sunday or on public holidays, from 08:30 AM to 04:00 PM. The fee will be from EUR 5.00 to 10.00 per day, depending on the date of booking. After payment, tourists must have a confirmation. Exempt from this fee are children under 14; residents of Venice and the Veneto region; people working or studying in Venice.
