Pensione Accademia - Villa Maravege

We have always wanted to stay in a hotel in Venice overlooking a canal and this hotel overlooks three canals so perfect! It is easy to reach the hotel from the nearest waterbus stop, just a ten minute walk, and from the moment we arrived until we left the staff were both friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked the canals and was a mixture of practical luxury and antique style in keeping with the property itself. The breakfasts are great, with the cakes a temptation too far, you really do need to walk around Venice to account for the extra calories! Being near Acadamia bridge it is easy to walk to the main sites within Venice, however it is also pleasant just to wander around the slightly less crowded canals near the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants near the hotel and if you see one you like it is worth reserving a table. There are two bars just along the canal from the hotel which offer amazing value drinks which you can enjoy sitting on the walls outside. This really is the perfect place to stay in Venice and it offers an oasis of calm away from the throngs f visitors to the city. We had a wonderful stay and if you are going to Venice it is definitely worth staying here.
