The chalet is everything that was described in the property's promotional materials and then some. It is located in Premione, a short drive from Stenico. Parking is across the street and is much more convenient than appeared at first glance. The chalet, (built in the 1600's as a barn and farmhouse) has 2 floors and a library in a loft above the second floor. There are two large decks (one on each floor) that offer commanding and beautiful views of the Alps to the west. The Dolomites (another part of the Alps) literally are on the opposite side of the road where the chalet is located. Both floors are well and comfortably furnished. The second floor has a bedroom, bath and huge living room. The first floor has 2 bedrooms, bathroom, full kitchen, dining area and fireplace. The chalet is at the southern edge of the Parco Naturale Adamello Brenta, which is easily accessible from the chalet. The park offers plenty of options for those who are hikers or have the stamina to enjoy a good walk in the Dolomites. Lapo (the owner) prepared a brochure that provides useful information on where to park and what you will see. Note that the park is home to a large population of brown bears, so you would do well to be prepared with bear spray in case you have an unintended encounter (the same precaution that normally would be taken when hiking in the Grand Tetons or Yellowstone). The chalet is a 40-minute drive east to Trento (well worth a visit) and about an hour and ten minute drive north to Bolzano in South Tyrol. Bolzano is well worth a long day trip. It has a decidedly Austrian feel, and the South Tyrol Archaeological Museum is nothing short of fabulous. The entire museum is dedicated to what was dubbed "The Ice Man", a 5,000-year old mummified corpse that was discovered in a glacial trail that has been used for thousands of years as a path between present-day Italy and Austria. To the south lies the northern terminus of Lago Garda less than an hour's drive away. Lapo is an engaging and helpful owner and, as he lives and spends much of his time in Milan, is readily accessible via phone, email or What's App.
