B&B Appartamenti l'Anfora

We came to Sperlonga in the height of summer and really enjoyed the town. The B&B is situated out of town and it takes around 20 min to walk in. If you're travelling from Rome on the train you can get on a bus to Sperlonga. We walked the rest of the way to the b&b, but I think there might be a taxi service somewhere or you might have to arrange to be picked up by the owner of the b&b who is really helpful. The rooms are basic but very clean. There is a fridge and coffee machine and also an air conditioning unit which really helped in the heat. You can eat 'al fresco' if you have cold food, but there are no cooking facilities as such. For breakfast you receive a basket with pre-packed cakes and croissants etc. Lots of them, but if you're not used to this type of food in the morning you might get a little bored with it after a couple of days. The landlord was extremely helpful and so was his family. We don't speak Italian so communication was a little fraught but the family really made our stay there comfortable. There is a beach in 5min walking distance and we were really happy to use the bikes supplied by the landlord to go to town. All in all we had a great stay in Sperlonga and want to go there again. The L'Anfora is good value for money as a base from where you can arrange your day. My best memory of it was the lovely garden with an opulence of native flowers. Simply gorgeous grounds and so well looked after. Peaceful place. Sperlonga town is so picturesque, we had lovely walks up to the old town which is basically built into the rock. Amazing little windy pathways upwards. Sets you back in time. There are boat trips out to the Emperors cave and the water is absolutely clear and lovely for swimming in. There are many restaurants in town. We had an amazing holiday here although there were not many English speaking people
