We had booked this hotel because of cost savings and a quiet location. But we soon discovered that Villa Toretta has so much more to offer. A beautiful old building that has been restored and renovated; this Hilton Curio Hotel provides simple but spacious bedrooms with immaculate sunny bathrooms. The breakfast is ample and tasty in a pleasant environment. And the dinner is far above average in taste, amenities and service. The north park is a very short walk from the villa and a pretty place with birds and good foot paths. We took taxi's from the Villa to go to La Scala for the opera and to the beautiful museum in the Brera district. There may be public transport from the Villa area; but we did not inquire about it. Having a clean comfortable taxi at a fairly modest cost was our distinct preference. And the personalized service in a Mercedes with private driver to the airport was a lovely farewell to the villa and Milan, again reasonably priced. By and large we avoid big cities wherever we go. But staying in Villa Torreta softened our disdain. The friendly and helpful staff, the ever present sunshine through our windows and the ease of movement made us feel more like we were in a country house than a city hotel. We will not hesitate to return to or recommend this enchanting Villa Torreta.
