Sa Ruscitta

We spent five nights at Sa Ruscitta and had a lovely time. Our room was simple but comfortable, cozy, and surprisingly quiet. It opened to a shared patio, which in turn overlooked an olive grove. The vibe is couples and small families, mostly European. The property is about 10-15min from Sant'antioco, 25min from Calasetta, and 5-10min to the beaches on the eastern side of the island, by car, which you'll need. A beautiful breakfast is served in a nearby building about 150 meters from the rooms. The real treat is the restaurant -- a magical place serving local cuisine for dinner. The grill dishes out meats and vegetables, while the kitchen serves up fresh pasta and fregula. We were partial to the house Carignano, served a little cold, light and refreshing in the summer. We'd eat there every night if we didn't feel like we had to explore the rest of the island. The best thing about Sa Ruscitta is the staff, led by Valeria. Everyone was at once warm and professional, making us feel welcome but giving us a lot of privacy. Would return in a heartbeat -- in fact, already planning next year's vacation. Wifi in the rooms, breakfast place, and restaurant, but little to no cell reception. Which was fine by me!
