Youth Hostel Sorrento

This hostel was in the most beautiful remote village set a far way from Sorrento centre. We were on foot and it took a good 30 minute walk from the Sorrento train station, little did we know we could actually get off at San Agnello stop... The hostel is set at the top of a steep cobbled hill, and although we were told there were buses, the main way to get around was walking, get the calf muscles working at least... If you like slightly off the track places this hostel is great, good walks all around, we went up into the mountains and hills through grape vine filled streets which was fantastic, a good insight into Italian landscapes! The only issue was a slight uncertainty when we arrived. On arrival there was no one there to check us in and we had a wait around for a bit. We didn't mind too much but having walked up that steep hill to a very quiet remote village, i can see how others might find that less than welcoming in the tiring heat. Luckily we found an old local old couple in the small village shop, who called up the lady and she arrived within 20 minutes. Perhaps it's quite a regular occurrence for lady to be called in for check in if they knew her number already, and by reading the other reviews. However, the gentleman in the little shop gave us a lift up the hill on his moped after the kerfuffle with the hostess. Nice rooms, very spacious and clean in our apartment at least. Nice kitchen area and clean bathroom as well.
