WHAT A SETTING FOR A WEDDING! My friends got married here and it was divine. The castle itself, the surroundings, the ease of access - everything was out standing. There were no issues whatsoever on the day itself and it made for an extremely memorable day.

If you are lucky enough to come across this Airbnb, do not wait to book! It was truly a fairytale castle that is EVERYTHING it looks to be and more! We were 9 moms from Jersey looking for a magical getaway and ended up with a trip of a lifetime! 4 out of the 5 rooms have their own bathrooms and kitchen! The tower is just a bedroom and bathroom but super special! 

 Nicola was an amazing host! He did so much for us and was available for anything we needed -  from late night rescues, to cooking us an amazing dinner (you must get the pesto pasta! Best I’ve ever had), to arranging rides and supplying us with his delicious wine. He truly went above and beyond and can’t wait to come back! 

Some additional insights:

Taxis are hard to come by in the area and there are NO Ubers. Nicola was able to help us, but a car is a must. If you aren’t REALLY comfortable with manual cars, be sure to get an automatic. Google road signs so you’re aware 

There’s a major grocery store nearby called Pam’s

Google garbage rules in Italy so you can do things properly for the host (sorry Nicola! We blew this…)

Book a pasta making class at Montese Cooking Experience!  The host knows him well and he was so fun and fabulous!!!

Book tours with Tuscany On Wheels - so nice, safe, fun and reliable. 

Again, if you’re seeing this and are able to go, you’re so very LUCKY! BOOK IT!!!!!

The castle was amazing! It was clean, historic , charming , and kept up .  Not mention an amazing pool that looks over the country side . The owner Nicola was an amazing host, was always available to give you guidance , answer questions, and assist you in whatever capacity needed.  Just being in a castle was an experience within itself, and being able to share it with wonderful friends made it that much more amazing -   The location of the castle makes it was to visit San Gimignano, Siena, and Florence . It was an experience that I will never forget -

We are spending summer holidays in Tuscany every 2-3 years and always in Castello Di Badia. Nicolas is a wonderful host and the castle is really impressive. The pool worth bigger splashes. Fantastic location to visit San Gimignano, Siena or even Florence, do shopping in nearby outlets or simply take a sunshine dive. Will be back soon

Always wanted to stay in a castle in Tuscany and Castello di Badia have all you need. Simple & accesible to different cities around. Views from the Castle were amazing and when we arrived, Nicola received is with a bottle of Chianti from the private reserve of the Castle, which is was a nice touch. To enter the castle you need to pass a small drawbridge and a portcullis which is was interesting to drive through. The apartments are quite big and with the necessary items you need, if you have any questions ask Nicola, he's always around to assist you.

My wife and stayed in 2 different apartments Castillo Di Badia and were looked after very well by Nicola.

La Limonaia was spacious with lots of natural light and a large terrace.

Driving across the drawbridge takes you into a different world going back centuries. 

Nicola also welcomes guest with a bottle of wine from his vineyard next to the castle. The dog, parrot and two cats are also friendly.

You will find it easier to drive into the castle in small car so keep that in mind when selecting your rental car.

From the moment the host Nicola greeted us at the drawbridge and we drove into the medieval courtyard we were spellbound! Nicola proudly showed us around this medieval castello with origins as early as 998AD, later an abbey, being destroyed and rebuilt in the 19th century. Dena from Houston my advice is "stick to the Holiday Inn!" This castello is for people who appreciate a place with real charm, character, history and art, for every wall has original artworks from different periods. We have had three days here and agree with other guests (some from Texas!) that we feel as if we are in a very exclusive, very expensive hotel without the obsequious service and excessive costs. Nicola is very friendly and welcoming - giving us a bottle of his own wine made from the vines that spread up the hill from the castello. Yes you do need to be a little adventurous in coming here. The road up the hill twists and turns and the entrance over the drawbridge is only just wide enough for a car. But this is a very special place. The small chapel and great hall are most impressive. The views from the rooms extend over the vineyards and hills to San Gimignano. The location is perfect for trips there and to Siena and the Chianti wine route. The swimming pool is large, clean, secluded and refreshing and who cares if the grass wasn't cut yesterday!

Wedding Setting

Under Tuscan Sun

My husband booked the Castle for our recent trip to Tuscany.  The pictures on the website are completely bogus.  We never saw a fireplace or any close to what we thought we were reserving.  The swimming pool area was a complete mess....we went down to the pool upon arrival and while the water was refreshing, the grounds were a mess, grass floating in the pool, and the owner had friends over that were not very friendly.  The mosquitoes was everywhere....a little yard guard could have gone a long way.  Our apartment was upstairs...stairs had a rope to hand onto instead of a secure handrail.  Very dangerous and our reservation said nothing about stairs.  The picture we saw on the website included a nice patio/courtyard....which made us believe we were getting the patio or use of it.   I think the owner was using it for his own family and friends.
While the air conditioning worked fairly well in the living room and the bedroom there was absolutely no a.c. in the kitchen and bathroom.  You couldn't open the windows as there were too many bugs flying in.  The kitchen was a disaster.  The ventilation pipe for the stove was not completely connected.  So the one day my husband fixed breakfast, we could not get the smell out of the apartment.
We could 3 towels upon arrival....that was it.  No paper towels not even a starter roll.
no dish towels, no spatula, and the refrigerator was a complete mess - dirty....
We had one small ice tray and no one had filled it with water....
Bedding was horrible - bedspread was dirty....
I was upset I wanted to just leave, but since we had pre-paid my husband talked me into staying.  I really can't believe that the reviews on trip advisor are real.....
I would NEVER stay at this place again.
