B&B La Perla nelle Dolomiti

This place is located at the heart of the village of Catelmezzano. a 10 minutes(climb) from the amazing cliffs viewpoint. 
The apartment has 2 floors, it is fully equipped, clean and beautiful.
The hosts were very kind and friendly.
Highly recommend.

Beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean place in the heart of Castelmezzano. Exceptional view of the Piazza. Very friendly and helpful, Giuseppina baked us a delicious tart for breakfast. Couldn't ask for anything more. Thank you 👌

Our stay at La Perla nelle Dolomiti was absolutely perfect. The host, Rocco, and his family were super kind. They even helped us get to Castelmezzano from Matera, for which we are very grateful. The B&B was perfectly clean, spacious and fully equipped to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The room is right under the cliffs, also it has a unique view towards the village. The breakfast was rich, we even got a delicious home made cake. 
Castelmezzano is a great place to visit for everyone who loves nature and mountains, it has a historical, calm and charming atmosphere.
All in all, it was an exceptional experience, we can’t wait to go back! :)

On my way to Messina from Lecce I noticed Castelmezzanos great location up in the mountains.

Stayed at La Perla and had a great restful stay in a great bed with a wonderful view over the town. Sun flooded the bedroom in the afternoon when I opened the doors to the balcony - what a view! A bit chilly but the sun made it great! Just lay on the bed enjoying the sun and view.

La Perla is situated kind of deep into Castelmezzano - so there is kind of a walk to get there as you can't/shouldnt drive al the way. I would recommend parking in the little citycenter then bring your the necessary stuff with you up to La Perla.

La Perla has the kitchen, toilett and shower on first floor and bedroom on second floor. There is a narrow staircase connecting the two floors. Bare in mind the staircase is pretty steep so if you have problems with movement you might have problems with this one.

The breakfast is delivered and you make coffee and so on your self. I really prefer this way before having the owners hanging over your neck. This morning I got a bunch of fava bean which I simmered and prepared for breakfast. 

Really lovely place! Very nice and kind owners that speak italian with just some english but you will manage - I very basic italian speaking skills.

You cannot reach this B&B by car and have to park in a central public car park and walk, but trust me it is worth it. The owner of La Perla came down to meet us and helped us with our luggage. She speaks very little English and us very little Italian, but we managed to communicate.The little apartment which cost less than £50 per night was over two storeys was modern and has everything. A stocked fridge, home made cakes, great coffee and free wifi. Downstairs entry into kitchen/seating area and the shower and bathroom off to the side, then a delightful spiral staircase to another seating area and the bedroom with amazing views over Castelmezzano. Unlike a lot of hotels a top of the range 37inch flat screen TV. The whole place is clean and tastefully decorated and equipped, and if we ever come this way again we would stay again.

Nice clean and tidy. The size of the flat is not big but for what is needed is excellent and the spiral staircase to the top floor is tight but it adds character to the place. Brand new look and the breakfast is typical Italian. If back in Castelmezzano will most definitely choose this B&B again. Thank you Rocco and Giuseppina for your warm welcome.

 Spacious Apartment Amazing View

Super place to stay!

My Wife and I visited Castelmezzano in July of 2023.
We visited to take a flight on the Volo dell'Angelo which was absolutely AWESOME!!
However....
This is NOT the B&B for you if you have little children, are moderately overweight, or have mobility issues.
The owners have made an effort to create a B&B facility within a limited space, however although the initial appearance is good, the living design is poor.
This B&B is perfect for fit, thin young people holidaying as a couple.
Car Parking IS a major issue in this pretty little town that clings tenaciously, seemingly defying gravity, to the wall of Dolomite rock overlooking the valley below.
There is a system for subsidised parking but you have to find somewhere to park first. Parking spaces identified with white lines are FREE, those with blue lines require a parking fee. If you can, find a place in the large municipal car park (white lines) grab it and stay there! On arrival at the B&B one will be given a parking concession slip to fill out and place on the dashboard of the car. One can then access the concession rate of 3.50 Euros per day. Put 3.5 Euros in the parking machine and print a ticket, rather than 7 Euros as advertised. My advice, just find a space with white lines get on it and stay there.
Now to the accommodation.
The spiral staircase used to access the 1st floor is, in my view 'lethal'. A very tight helical twist, steep high rising steps and very narrow indeed, with a protruding concrete beam that 'bites' one every time an ascent is made. These stairs are definitely not suitable for little children or those with any mobility issues. There is no air conditioning with the exception of a free standing water mist fan unit in  the 1st floor bedroom area. The bathroom layout is very cramped indeed. I am 1.8m tall, weigh 69Kg and sitting on the loo took a bit of 'edging' however, the good news is that one can brace oneself against the shower cubical if incumbent to do so. The shower is not of the best design either. Be watchful for shelf edges protruding into work space areas in the kitchen especially the one to the left of the sink, it 'bit' me a number of times before I afforded it a healthy respect. The bedroom area is acceptable for a budget priced B&B but one has to walk through the adjacent living space/ second sleeping area to get to the staircase. So whoever occupies this 'second bedroom' convertible settee equipped room has to be fairly well known to the occupants of the main bedroom. So older children only would be best. The owner/s did try hard and were quite friendly but not up to the standard that I would expect. Most of our communications took place via WhatsApp text message, the lady who met us spoke absolutely no English at all, and who merely smiled and rattled on while we struggled to understand her with our limited Italian. Also a word of caution, don't be inveigled as we were into cancelling your Booking dot com payment in order to pay the owners later, if you do fall into this 'trap', what you will find is that they do not have any form of credit debit or card facility and require payment in cash, causing you a lot of inconvenience and saving them the booking company's fee. Be advised that this area remains very much a bastion of the Peasant Capitalist Economy.
So.... very much a curate's egg situation, good in parts. Would I stay there again... NO. Find yourself a better B&B in the town, and there are plenty, one or two even with transport that will save you a fifteen to twenty minute walk dragging your bags through the streets in temperatures of 36+ after a long day's journey.
Get your Pizzas from Maria at Pizzeria Rosticceria excellent value!
Go to the little supermarket just down the street from the Pizzeria Rosticerraria for anything else.
Please remember that this (still unspoiled and well off The Road Less Travelled) little town is still very much a local community in which you are the interloper, be considerately polite, discreet and wish the townsfolk "buongiorno" and they will respond in kind. Enjoy the Volo dell' Angelo it's awesome!!!
