Tenuta I Quattro Venti

Welcomed by a lovely lady, Valentina, with not much English and we have no Italian! She managed to explain we were upgraded to a larger apartment at no extra charge. The apartment is good, but no bigger than I would have expected, but had 2 bedrooms, one of which has bunk beds. The bathroom is small, but has all we need in it. I checked the kitchen equipment, which was a bit under equipped on utensils and bowls, but we will manage. Couldn’t find a kettle. Managed to ask and were given a jug with a lid to boil on the gas hob. We have a large patio area with table and chairs plus loungers. We want to self cater as much as possible whilst here. Breakfast is included. Decided to go shopping to a supermarket, and our host explained the nearest was in Otranto. We set off and got to the supermarket in about 15 minutes of easy driving. The coast road was more attractive to Otranto. I managed to cook a reasonable meal that evening. Could do with more light in kitchen. Next morning, went for breakfast at the lovely breakfast bar by the pool. There was a huge choice for just us 2. Cereals, juices, fruit, yoghurt, croissants, cakes, bread , preserves, ham , prosciutto, cheese, juices etc! We used google translation to get her to come and show us how to use the hob and oven. Good job as we may have tried lighting the electric oven! We decided to relax all day at the apartment and hoped for a swim after lunch if the weather stays warm enough. We enjoyed lunch on our lovely patio. After lunch, we built ourselves up to trying out the pool. The sun hadn’t made an appearance, so John went off to check out the pool temperature. He came back with 2 cups of coffee from Valentina, who had been at the bar. He said we were thinking of trying out the pool. Valentina said fredo! After our coffees! we got ready anyway and went over to the pool. I braved it first, and once in , it was lovely. Felt really privileged to be staying at this beautiful place on our own. Maybe it is early in the season?
